Fall is prime time on the Ridge outside Mag Bay for wahoo, striped marlin, yellowfin tuna and dorado. Usually, from early September until the water
cools sometime around the first of the year small boat fisherman willing to make the long trip from Lopez Mateos or San Carlos will be rewarded with
one or more. Yesterday, after two weeks grounded by the weather, I launched out of Lopez Mateos and by 10:00 had boated one of all four of the
coveted species. I arrived at the high spot early hoping for wahoo, but the first fish to the boat were yellowfin and a marlin. When I headed in
around noon the final tally was one marlin, two yellowfin (footballs) two dorado, and three wahoo. There was bait aplenty, including pelagic red
crabs, and all the fish were caught within half a mile of the first stop.
There were no other boats fishing the area except one panga with four clients aboard that arrived as I was leaving.
The SST in the area has cooled three or four degrees since the first of the month.
Here are some pics (not great because of the bump):

Don't know why the photos wouldn't attach. Here's a link to the report on Bloodydecks:
