That is insane. It's 83° here ...now. Probably real close to the same up there. The La Mision hill will separate the riders from the sissys.

You saying that everyone in front of the buildings on the right are riding bikes? I blew the photo up 4x and it looks like those are spectators to me. I think the riders are coming into the scene in the center lane at the top of the picture.

Nice photo, but, that event is dangerous. Leading studs should be nearing finish line about now.

Feedback should be interesting on the free road pavement destruction at the inland hills' summit. Looked very sketchy last Sunday.

I was up there yesterday, thats a looong stretch of no pavement. the roadies ain't gonna like it!:O and as hot as it is down here on the beach, gotta be toasty up there.

Sat on a lawn chair with cold ones and watched the parade go by, here at K 38. Entertaining!

I was not at this event but I have participated numerous times. The folks in the center lane are likely late arrivals heading for the back of the pack/start. In 1986 +/- there was 14,000+ reported participants. We would always ride up to start line from our casa to the south and time it so we got to start line as they fired the start pistol. Some friends of ours were way in the back and after the gun went off they walked their bikes for 30 minutes or so just to get to the start line. It was the next year or so when they decided to have it twice a year and limited the entries. We had a few years were we put together teams of 10-15-20 riders. My best personal time was 2:26 minutes. We would ride as a pack until El Tigre then it was every man and woman to themselves.
The after parties at Casa 29 were legendary. :saint::cool:
