Can anyone tell what kind of raptor this is?

Well, I am pretty sure it is not a FORD--------perhaps a Kestrel???

I vote with Woody. I'd like to see a little more prominent tail band, but it looks like the Harris' hawks we identified at San Nic.

A Harris's Hawk has a longer tail and a reddish patch on the shoulder like this bird---

I believe Mono's raptor is a Red-tailed Hawk, maybe a dark morph, maybe a young bird. Here's one---

Oly is right, roadside hawks, black hawks and Harris' hawks have light colored (yellow or tan) bills.

With the black stripe at the eye could it possibly be an osprey??? could you see its underside monoloco? was it white?

I couldn't see the underside, but I think that it probably was an osprey as they are common here.
