Even though I have had a house in San Felipe for years I have never tried to tune in AM/FM or VHF/UHF. Are there any Gringo stations that can be
picked up out of Yuma or El Centro?
Has some great radios and antennas for grabbing thise distant stations

The local station in El Centro is KROP 1300 AM, news talk, small town agriculture related ads. NOT a big city station. I receive it just fine in
Borrego Springs.

I listened to KFI near Todos Santos... after sundown, strong AM stations take advantage of 'skip', as do CB and HAM radio operators when the
conditions permit.

We can get a yuma station in mornings, the one with the trade program, not sure of dial number, but low on Am. usually just listen to satellite
radio, we already have subscription for travel and offers a very broad selection. No Rush Limbaugh though.

It used to be possible to just about pick up some of the Yuma/El Centro market TV stations with a really good antenna, but that was marginal and went
away when the stations went digital.
On FM radio, it depends on weather conditions but KPBS 97.7 and KTTI 95.1 are often available if you're in a reasonably high location north of town.
Very little on AM in the day, but at night it's possible to pick up stations from all over if your house isn't too electrically noisy. Talk stations
from LA, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Houston and so on. Pity there's no actual content worth listening to though.
As Sancho mentioned, internet radio is the better option. Much better quality and a wider choice, including stations from the UK, Canada, Australia
etc. Using TuneIn on an Android phone with wi-fi (connected to the home internet) is a convenient way to listen to it, doesn't need a computer or

Depending on the weather, you can get an FM country/western station out of Yuma quite clearly only using the radios built in antenna. If my CRS serves
me right, it is 98.1.
As for me getting AM during the day, it is nil due to interference from my solar panels. At night when the solar panels are dormant numerous stations
can be picked up using my C Crane antenna that Bajaguy talks about on his post.

At our place in Borrego Springs, Anza Borrego Desert, I use one of these to enhance AM reception and null noise.
Works great with a Sony 2010 AM/FM/Shortwave receiver. For AM you can run an outside or in room wire antenna then wrap the tail around the radio
several turns and that works too...quick and dirty? Nah!...Fast and filthy. You can make an AM enhancing loop antenna for pennies with found or cheap
wire that can really jump start reception. Do a web search for AM loop antenna..it might start a new hobby!

Hmm..I have gotten a country music station out of Yuma in my car sometimes, but don't know the call letters....most of the music on the radio (unless
you have Sirius) is, of course, in Spanish. I stream radio at home over my internet connection. As for TV, we have Directv here so we just purchased
an extra dish and take one of our boxes down there with us....we can't get our local Seattle stations, but get everything else.
