I was down there this past July and they were "grading" the road. What was left in the wake of the grader was 8-10 inches of soft sand/silt and some
basketball sized rocks protruding through the soft stuff. It was challenging to get through it. I did not return the following day to see what, if
any, improvements were done to make the road passable after the grader went through.
........and ditto what bledito said........lots of dirt.

The paved road from La Ribera towards Cabo Pulmo is roughly 13 miles long. This leaves a little over 5.5 miles of dirt road to Cabo Pulmo. Usually
the road is graded every 3 weeks to a month and is driven by rental cars daily.
