David K - 10-10-2013 at 09:25 PM

Wow, to live across the lagoon from Shell Island... I would be so happy! I am sorry to see you selling your dream house Chris!

viabaja - 10-10-2013 at 09:29 PM

Yes Dave, we are sorry to have to do this too! But future plans will not allow time to keep going to Baja. New horizons!

Is the campo still owned by the Lopez family? If so are Chanate, Marcos and Jorge still around ?

viabaja - 10-13-2013 at 01:13 PM

They are! Mrs Lopez is the patrona. It's a great campo! The family has owned the property since the early 60's. It has a lot of amenities ie., bar and restraraunt. Always fair and honest! They are great landlords!

I was just sitting at Percebu the other day having a beer trying to remember which house it was... Beautiful place! What kind of fish are those in the picture - corvina?

I am guessing Yellowfin Croaker (Boca dulce)...?

The primary fish we caught on that coast back in the 60's and 70's was Corbina and Yellowfin Croaker on bait and Corvina when casting with a silver luer. We have also hooked up baby Tortuava, White sea bass, sand sharks...

Update-there has been numerous questions on security in Percebu. The campo is very secure. The house sits within viewing distance of the ejido owners house, the campgrounds, the cantina, and Jorge Lopez's house. There is someone there everyday, even in the summer when theft problems usually occur in the areas up and down the coast. In the 11 years I've owned the house, there has never been as issue. I feel that Rancho Percebu is probably the most secure in the area.
