flare guns

new handheld work OK,, but the 25mm pistol is a weapon!! imo..but if you have a boat (1.inflatables don't count) most ck points don't care (1.) must be very,,very careful using flares around deflatables

I always have one handy. It's also good for signaling distress.;););)

Back in Fred Hoctor's days as Western Outdoor News Baja correspondent, there was the same discussion. I wrote about it then and again here in 2009:

Fred Hoctor wrote a piece in Western Outdoor News about Flair Guns in Baja. I think he said there were legal (maybe depending on who was inspecting you).

I wrote this after my experience.

"In July 1999 while returning from San Lucas Cove we were stopped at the
last federal inspection at one of the Ensenada toll booths, and they
found some spare flair gun shells in my boat. We had removed the flair
gun because the Vagabundos said it was illegal and you could go straight
to jail.
We almost got an extended vacation in Mexico. After being released to go
on twice, and their calling their supervisors, we finally got to go.
If you are correct, someone forgot to tell the federales. I am not
going to risk it this year."

Always travel with mine in it's bright orange case attached to the back of a front passenger seat. Don't see a problem unless I shoot someone who report's me. Then it's my word against his.

Hoping I get a chance to shoot a bandido up close one day.

Wouldn't that be fun?

The fact that there is no/little definitive info on subjects
like your ? or that info is is not easily available, leads one to be subjected to the interuptation that the
Mex Army or cop deems official, whether that person has ANY regs to back up his claim. Apparently people have
them in vehicles, which proves nothing as their being
legal. I've always been under the impression you had
to have a boat of some kind
