Bozo works for the DEA. How cool is that.

danaeb - 10-19-2013 at 03:39 PM

He was the eldest Arellano Felix brother. I wonder what this means for the cartel war between Sinaloa and Tijuana. I hope we're not going back to the bad old days.

measomsan - 10-20-2013 at 07:11 AM

We have a house in El Tule right across the highway. This was a rental place they built about a year or so ago. It is used mainly by high end Mexican families for parties. I guess this happens everywhere. In Houston it is a nightly accurance. My friends will give me crap now about safety in Cabo area. I still feel safer down south than here in Houston. Will be back home there in a week for the next six or seven months. This will make good fireside conversation.

I don.t always drink with clowns, but when I do, it is in El tule ...drink safely my friends

Very cumbersome security operation
Did not know the name of the debtor
San José de el Cabo, B.C.S.-after seven in the evening today reported the firing of guns in the inside of a residential area known as OCEAN HOUSE, located at the middle of the road between this city and Cabo San Lucas, in the vicinity of the bridge known as the TULE.

On the tourist corridor was observed moving from elements of the municipal, State preventative, ministerial and military elements, which mounted a roadblock close to the known as FONATUR roundabout and at the super WALMART market in Cabo San Lucas.

At the site, which is a residential area of restricted access, began to get elements of the ministerial and military, that ran to reporters without borders, who managed a photograph that we show them moments before.

It was the execution of a person who is identified as FRANCISCO RAFAEL ARELLANO FÉLIX, who had allegedly attended a children's Party, when repentimanete approached him a subject identified as clown, who downloaded it a gun squad.

Deployed a police operation that is quite noticeable on the tourist corridor of Los Cabos, unless at the time you know if there is the liable for the killing.

Collective Pericu with information from reporters without borders.

Mexico cartel figure Arellano Felix killed at Cabo hotel

By David Simpson, CNN

(CNN) -- "A former member of Mexico's Tijuana Cartel was shot and killed in the popular Cabo tourist area, authorities said.

Francisco Rafael Arellano Felix was shot Friday night at a "party venue" at a beachfront hotel in Cabo San Lucas on the Baja California peninsula, the state-run Notimex news agency reported.

The agency said authorities received some reports that the attack was carried out by two men, one of whom may have been dressed as a clown.

Arellano Felix, 63, was killed by gunfire to the head, according to a statement by the deputy attorney's special investigations unit.

Arellano Felix had served time in prisons in Mexico and the United States, Notimex said. He was released from an American prison in 2008 on a conviction for selling cocaine.

Authorities said there were no pending criminal charges against him.

The U.S. Justice Department has said the Tijuana Cartel, which was responsible for kidnappings and murders in addition to drug and gun offenses, was run by members of the Arellano Felix family. As of mid-2013, three members of the family were in American prisons. Another was killed in a shootout with police in 2002.

State and military forces erected roadblocks in a search for the gunmen, but no arrests had been made Saturday night, Notimex reported."

Ya know, I have heard of people who hate clowns and up to today I have always been on the fence.

About Death

Gypsy Jan - 10-21-2013 at 12:36 PM

Does anyone remember the Bob Newhart TV show where he became obsessed with dreams of Johnny Cash, "The Man in Black" as the angel of death?

At one point in the episode, he was waiting for an elevator and when it opened, a man, completely dressed in black was standing there, inviting him in.

IMHO, it's a hell of a lot more dignified way to go than "The Clown Solution".

Drug related violence in Baja

Whale-ista - 11-8-2013 at 10:08 PM

Just saw this news report. I had heard of the shooting, didn't realize it had been in Cabo. And the clown thing is bizarre, to say the least.

After reading other recent posts asking about getting involved or trying to change things, this would make me think...no.

Clowns really have a bizarre sense of humor! :O

Whale-ista,

I'm glad you quickly came to your conclusion about NOT getting involved or trying to change things.

Those of us who remember Mexico before the Cartel violence erupted have beautiful memories, but there have always been problems that offend North American sensitivities.

Many of us who have lived in Mexico and still do, know that we have to stay out of the fray. It is a moral dilemma for us. We in Baja witness daily the over-fishing to eventual extinction in The Sea of Cortez. We are aware of the horrible cruelness of dog fighting. We see the fighting Pit Bull owners walk their dogs along the river in Mulege. These are the winners. The have scars all over their bodies and their faces are mutilated; missing parts of ears, lips, eyes, etc. The losers are dead.

We see the litter of plastic bags, junk and garbage strewn along the highways and in private yards. There is a slowly growing consciousness through education to cut down on the volume, but still, it is a blight to the eye. The only thing we can do (and we do) is to organize periodic clean up squads along the river. But you dare not lecture or even mention it to locals. Just teach by example.

So, back to the Cartel violence: There is far less in Baja than in the mainland. Unless you live in TJ or Rosarito, You will probably not ever see it. Sure, this happened in Cabo, but it is rare. Pity the Mexicans who are forced to flee for their lives. If they have a business, they are ripe for extortion. There are kidnappings of targeted individuals. There are the police who know they will die if they don't cooperate. These people live under the constant threat of death, not only themselves but their whole families.

A Cardinal Rule for us: do not have anything to do with drugs or people who are involved in drugs. That is how gringos disappear.

The Arellano brothers are notorious for emersing people into acid vats, alive. They also like to make examples of people who don't cooperate by hanging them nude from bridges with their genitals cut off, or thrown headless onto city streets.

Graphic, huh? Well, you get the picture. Live and enjoy the scenic beauty, the weather, the many wonderful locals who live there, but do-not-get-involved in trying to change things! They don't appreciate it and you will be frustrated.

The only person I know who has, successfully, is Blanca in La Bocana. She is Bi-Cultural, has a special charm, has the respect of the locals, and she is a teacher by profession. I know her personally. I taught with her in San Diego. Had she asked me, I would have told her, "Don't do it!" But only she could prove me wrong. She knows la onda.

In conclusion, butt out and stay away from Clowns! :light::cool:
