Time flys! The windshield crack is almost across to the driver's side and we are into the last week before heading back to the US. Its been an
interesting month. Bonnie and I had an easy slide down to Loreto from San Diego/OB. This time we didn't want to do a banzai so spent the first night
at Jardines in San Quintin then the second in GN so we could get back into the eastuary and sand dunes. That got us into Loreto on Thursday October
3rd. It was windy for a few days so we didn't fish but did kayak a bit, meet up with friends, and walk the town. Since fishing was off we went to La
Paz for a few days. Nomad folks turned us on to Casa Buena which is a real winner, pet friendly and wonderful hosts. The kayaks were launched at
Balandra for a day heading north, stopping on beaches, and having a darn nice time. The two maskotas( both street dogs from GN) were with us. Our last
whole day in La Paz was spent going through yardage stores so Bonnie could find material for a chair recovering project. The online weather sites had
predictions that Octave would come ashore between San Carlos and Lopez Mateos so on Sunday we headed back to Loreto in spotty rain getting back before
the main rain arrived. I videoed Monday's downpour, the washout etc on Tuesday, fun to edit later. The past week was spent hiking the local area,
beach collecting driftwood etc. Today we hit the Sunday farmers market buying some ranch chicken Bonnie cooked with a combination of spice from the
market and hints of the cooking channel. Nothing radical or of the wall but a good three weeks. Now that the water looks blue instead of olive drab
its panga time.

Well the final weeks of the month in Baja went well...with a few surprises. One more pup, and a Kitty!!!! Bonnie spotted the dog when we were driving
from Colonia Zaragossa to Loreto. Skin and bone, running around in front of the hardware store and Chuckos market, she was barking at cars as they
passed. Later in the day on the way to Augie's for a happy hour meet up with friends we saw the dog again and dropped some food and a bowl of water.
She was skittish but went for the food. That was the last we saw of the dog for at least a week , Bonnie was really worried, then we saw her again on
the 23rd and were able to put her in a kennel. After two days we took "Rosie" to the vet for shots, checkup, and help getting off all the ticks...many
ticks.
It looks like we have a home for her with a friend who just lost here dog to old age. So far so good, a month in Baja, some exploring, fishing,
kayaking and a dog rescue. Not bad. Bonnie and I headed home on Monday Oct 28th with plans to stop in GN for an other visit to the estuary followed
by the night of the 29th at Jardines then back to SD through Tecate on Wednesday. It went well, even ran into friends at Jardines who were headed
South. Out in the parking lot while walking the dogs we heard a kitten crying, very Siamese in voice. Bonnie baited out the kitty with some grilled
fish. To our surprise the little guy was VERY friendly wanting human contact, not feral!! We got a box from Jardines garden folks, put kitty in, and
brought him home. He is a blue eyed grey point , not sure of the real name, and a cute little guy. The senior house cats have accepted him, no probs
with the sandbox, and he has staked out the back of the couch near a sunny window as cat territory.
I did get to visit a Ham Radio friend at Rancho St Inez near Catavinia and the Tecate crossing was less than 5 minutes, road work on 94 took lots
longer. So ... a fine end to a great month.

Yep, they were there and we had a nice visit. I catch Ralph on "Wheels and Keels" , 3935-QSY 7233.5.

Will do! Andy sold the San Juanico place to our friend Carl who bar tends at "Lucy's" in Ocean Beach. Andy has Parkinsons.

Though he has been pretty calm after the first day his temporary nickname was Screecha, a take off on meecha, due to the Siamese voice. The little
fellow was pretty scared when we found him but fine now and we are still working on a name though Screech just might stay.
