Nice framing. Doesn't even look real. Something wrong with the lighting.

liknbaja127 - 10-21-2013 at 07:34 PM

Mulegena - 10-21-2013 at 10:32 PM

Is it out there on the land of Volcan Tres Virgenes north of Sta. Rosalia?

willardguy - 10-21-2013 at 10:32 PM

That would be my guess too!

Skipjack Joe - 10-21-2013 at 11:00 PM

BCN likely.

No Cirios. No Cardons. No trees.

Could be somewhere between San Felipe and Gonzaga or the Laguna Chapala area or part of the Vizcaino Desert (although it doesn't have those mountains).

I'm gonna go with that abandoned roadside restaurant at Chapala looking east to the mountains you have to cross to get to Cocos.

The food there is excellent and the photos do the food justice!

I'm here... but I would rather be there!

Most of Jesse's photo posts are in Baja Sur, but I am just going to throw out a guess... the southern end of Bahia de los Angeles as you go around the bay and lagoon towards Rincon (La Mona)...?

Hmmmmm, I thought that too, but I don't remember that very old structure.

The Las Flores jail - off the road to Animas bay south of BOLA?

Chupacabra - 10-22-2013 at 10:27 AM

Maybe it's the old territorial jail in Yuma.

vgabndo - 10-22-2013 at 12:52 PM

Isn't it identified on the website as Tres Virgenes?

Paula - 10-22-2013 at 01:01 PM

This is a trick question. This photo was actually taken in far northern Illinois, looking across the border into wisconsin.

No - that's the name of the restaurant (and Facebook page) that the photo is posted to.

It just seems like it's in the Laguna Chapala "area"... but I can't find anything to back that up.

Did you ask a question you don't know the answer to?

Come on that isn't fair.:saint:

comitan - 10-22-2013 at 02:33 PM

Well goat I think its not Isla San Jose!!!!!!! There is not that much flat land on the Isla.

motoged - 10-22-2013 at 02:41 PM

Well....I dunno.....but it is a really good photograph.

Someone said the lighting was off or wrong.....I think the lighting is great....

Pretty, but enhanced. Great, if that's what you like.

Maderita - 10-22-2013 at 03:12 PM

mtgoat666 knows how to use Gogle Images.
Took me all of 45 seconds to get the place and story.
Is that cheating? lol

looking NE from the salt works.

except for foreground, is mostly slope you are looking at in picture

comitan - 10-22-2013 at 03:29 PM

I looks flat but pictures can be deceiving.

tripledigitken - 10-22-2013 at 03:41 PM

The contributing factor to the lighting is the "golden hour" time it was shot. Look at the long shadows. For what it's worth the shadows indicate the view is looking to the north.

The editing of the image was on the vibrant side to my eye. I would have liked the structure to be in focus, but now I'm nit picking.

durrelllrobert - 10-22-2013 at 04:15 PM

I recognize that Cholla cactus in the foreground but I've forgotten where I saw it :tumble:

TDK,
Yes, I, too, thought the pic was taken at that magical hour (or less) of golden light.

Window frame in focus?....Yep, coulda set with a smaller aperture, used a tripod for the slower shutter speed... ;D

But I thought that the window frame and adobe had enough "distinction" to see what it was, yet allowed the wood and adobe to "softly" frame the view, rather than compete with it.....and that the man-made object was "fading/vanishing/deteriorating" as opposed to the "permanence/longevity/stronger quality of nature's creation" of the mountains and landscape.

But that is just how I saw it.....we each have our interpretations and preferences for such a "story".

What is important is that we enjoyed the pic for what it is, aside from the geo-query.

tripledigitken - 10-22-2013 at 04:38 PM

To each his own. I'm guessing it wasn't a deliberate decision.

I wish I had been there to shoot it.

joerover - 10-22-2013 at 10:11 PM

looking west 2 hours after sun rise, (morning), late December.

David K - 10-22-2013 at 10:15 PM

Thank you for that great photo, if it is yours Joe! If not, then thanks to who ever took and shared it with the WWW.

BajaNomad - 10-22-2013 at 10:38 PM

Google images does give it away if you know how to do an image search there.

I agree. It looks like it's been HDR'ed. But not too aggressively.

Definitely looks like an HDR photo. You see a lot of HDR photos since the newer cameras including the Apple iPhone now have the feature built in.
