San Ignacio stay

We have visited several times, but this trip down we are considering spending the night in San Ignacio. We have a dog. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

We have stayed at the Desert Inn and they were pet friendly. Also, for a more basic old motel, the Hotel Posada accepted pets.

. . .Just back from there; stayed at Rice & Beans; clean room with lota hot shower, TV, A/C, pool, Rest - O - Bar with great food & wine / beer / hard stuff. . .And Ricardo is very pleasant to talk with. Also he does not mind if you use his freezer to refreeze your ice bottles. Some road noise if you sleep with A/C off as we do. $40 / nite what we paid. Was there 2 times this trip & would go back again. Easy parking also. 24/7 Security.

If you are interested in historic Inns in San Ignacio, the oldest place to stay in San Ignacio is probably Casa Leree. It's a very quaint but comfortable place. One of the rooms has kitchen facilities and they do accept dogs. It has the added advantage of being just a short block from the old Mission and the town square. Juanita (the owner) as an extensive historic photo library of the town and surrounding area that guests are welcome to use. She also has maps of local hiking trails that she has paid to clear and mark for tourists.

The other really nice place and is away from the noise of hwy1 and accept dogs is as Blanca said, Ignacio Springs. They have yurts there and free kayak rentals for paddling around the lagoon to the hot springs.

Casa Leree, is also outstanding. It is just on the north west corner of the plaza, in a blue building. Very quaint and historic. Juanita is the town's historian and the inside courtyard of her building is lush and normally has a spring running through the middle of it. The whole town really makes you fell like you stepped back in a time capsule.

It was taken in Jan. of 2012.

While I would happily stay at Casa Leree, as history is my thing... I have not yet done so.

I have stayed at Fischer's La Posada Motel, back in 1985... really liked the 'Baja Feeling' there.

In 2002, stayed at Ricardo's (Rice & Beans) Motel, was great.

casa leree for the magical garden and museum and bookstore

maybe you need to plan 2 trips so you get the best of both options!

Bernie and I stayed at Casa Leree and Juanita was yes, the town historian. She also has a bookshop/library on premises. So much history in the area, and she knows it all, has written books about it...and available to buy there. Even her rooms have history with who stayed in them, and her inside courtyard has a controlled water "spring" which the priests put in over 120 years ago...You do need to go there, and take time to learn of the area. the church has its own history...young boy...older woman...and jumping if I can't have her! I do not know about dogs, but there are cats to pet!

Some good racing stuff goes there and his brother has a rice and beans in SF..Ricardo (owner) is a good guy and swears a large ufo craft flys and hovers over the hill to the south east..says he has been seeing for years...the downside to race and beans, its near the hwy(road noise)...forgot whats is called but for breakfast,, they have a to die for tortilla dish....sorta like soft chips in a great sauce..one of my fav little Baja towns/village and mission.....:cool: PS,,also a good place to stop and sleep..get up early to go down the "GRADE" while its cooler..

Stayed at Ignacio springs b&b. Cool yurt and good mattress. Teri and Gary good hosts. And a fantastic breakfast w/ Gary's homemade sausages, ham, and toscino.(bacon?). Dinner at Tootsies. T&G daughter Toni restaurant just off the square. Food was OK , but pricy. I'd be surprised if it is still there in a year.

They not only accept dogs, but they played with mine while we went out to the lagoon to see the whales!

I left Chazz' "chuck-it" toy on the front of my Jeep and when I got back he was having a great time with Gary, the owner.

Those folks are top notch in my book.
