A projection of a lunar eclipse onto a broken sunflower plate which broke (on the road in to see the eclipse) in the shape of the eclipsed sun:

David K - 10-29-2013 at 04:58 PM

Yes, I am often out in nowhere... but not as much as I would like!

Sublimity - 10-29-2013 at 05:10 PM

All right, I will play!

This was indeed an odd thing to find...

The killer whales were really cool being that close to a beach!

StuckSucks - 10-29-2013 at 05:41 PM

How about a runway under water?

gringorio - 10-30-2013 at 07:11 PM

Good post, David.
I'm not sure the following is so odd, unless you consider that it's being marketed as a "destination."

Aeropuerto Internacional San Ignacio

bryanmckenzie - 11-1-2013 at 12:12 PM

Pilots, please note that this is the international arrivals building for passengers ONLY. Flight crew may go directly to their 4x4 VW bug or sandrail.

When landing, please do not bump the runway marker concreta/rocks. Otherwise you will need to set them up again prior to leaving the airstrip for your destination. The Marianas/customs folks will greet you gladly just north of San Ignacio proper.

Please do not drive / fly on the grass.

russ; GREAT shots of the orcas..!!!....i was actually fishing in a sportfishing fleet here one time in washington and we witnessed a pod of killer whales come in and charge up ON THE BEACH!!! grabbing seals and wolfing them down...the water literally turned red!!!...i saw these huge mammals completely out of the water eating harbor seals....then just wiggle their huge bodies back down into the water and go on their way....very, very cool thing to experience!

Guess where/ what this is... and it's important!

El Shoe! :light:

Now, because I know how much it has been driving you crazy...

The photo I posted above...

is the first site ruins of Mission Santo Tomás! That's all that is left... it (and the other two Santo Tomás) sites has not had any help from INAH because the land owner won't allow it and has some kind of connection that normally would allow INAH authority to protect or rebuild the missions.

BajaLuna - 11-19-2013 at 11:47 AM

Bryan, our paths must have been close to passing each other going North. We saw this Bentley at the military check point he was going South, that sweet swagger mobile just kind of stood out LOL among all the Baja1000 vehicles!

StuckSucks - 11-19-2013 at 05:36 PM

From our "What Was He Thinking?" Department: last Saturday, half way between Gonzaga and Coco's, headed south. The load appeared to have shifted.

The Highway 5 shortcut is going to appeal to a lot of truckers going between the mainland or Mexicali and points south! Some are not going to wait the additional 6 years+ to finish it...
