Semana Santa in La Paz

We are going to be in La Paz this next April and I'm trying to decide on dates. What is Semana Santa like in La Paz? I've been in Mulege for the holiday before, so I know what it's like there and Conception Bay. Is it a similar in La Paz? Are the beaches packed near the city? How about in the La Ventana area? Is town much busier? Are there any festivities that would be worth checking out (for someone that isn't Catholic but enjoys Mexico culture)? Any input would be appreciated - this will be our first time to the La Paz area. Thank you!

I think its fair to say everyone will be on the beaches.

The beaches are crazy. La Ventana will probably be equally bad.
In downtown La Paz there is a carnival and stuff on the Malecon, but I remember it being relatively tame

In Baja, "Mexico culture" on holidays is drinking and eating, so you should not be concerned about not being Catholic. Also, they like doing it outdoors when weather is nice. Also, there is a spring break, and they do have field trips.

Semana Santa in Mexico, La Paz or anwhere is a crazy, fun party let your hair down atmosphere and everyone and their mama go to the beaches if possible.

So, if you feel comfortable with this, come on down to La Paz. Itīll be nice.

One caveat, the 2-lane highway up and down the peninsula is uber crowded with holiday travelers. Additionally the border crossings will be way busy. This is the one week to get where you are early on and stay there, imo, a whole lot safer.

Have lots of fun.

any where for SS

I now buy all my food and drink for the duration !! and stay off the roads...too many wrecks all over mexico and Baja!! not paranoid, just too damn crazy to be driving IMO and that's before and after as a lot of folks come down from TJ and SO. CAL. and drive like maniac's to get the beach camp spot 1st and then race like mad to get back to work...Count me out !! And 1 year I was a captain of a 70' and anchored out in front of the malacon....do you any idea what 25 bands and bars sound like all night ?? boom, boom, boom, boom, boom !! K&T
