We are driving down to stay in Cabo for several weeks. Our d aughter & family are flying down to San Jose del Cabo airport. We will pick them
up.
Once we arrive at the airport, where do we park? Where do we walk to await them? Outside or inside somewhere? How is the timeshare 'hawks'
experience for arrivals. Any secrets to advise my family?

If you want to pick them up curb side from terminal 2, tell them to go up to the departures level after they run the gamut through the time share
guys. There are escalators and elevators. Although we have not attempted to, we understand that there is NO stopping at the arrivals area
If they are coming in terminal 1, curb side is no problem nor is parking and walking into the terminal to meet them.Udo - 11-3-2013 at 10:44 AM
It is best that your family call you on your cell when they arrive. Count on a 20 minute de-boarding time from the plane and customs.
Parking is two blocks away.
There are no timeshare sales people at the airport, Phil.

Holy cow! The timeshare folks were rather aggressive when I went through the airport last year. Fortunately, I made no eye contact, kept moving

20 minutes to de-plane and get through customs?? Udo - you really lucked out! The last couple of times I've gone through that airport (last time was
this past August) it took a good hour at least to de-plane, and get through immigration and customs. There were 2 (maybe 3) planeloads of passengers
all unloading within minutes of each other and the line at the immigration booths was horrendous - it extended out past the zig-zag rope things that
you wind your way through and out to the back end of the hall. This was at the brand new terminal.Udo - 11-3-2013 at 01:21 PM
Perhaps I've gotten lucky, Linda. (About 10 times now)
We generally fly first class and deplane almost immediately upon arriving at the gate. Getting to our bags is also almost as fast. Wait 5 minutes, and
the bags are there. Also, we are generally one of the first 10 people to make it to INM, and our car rental shuttle is already waiting for us.
Our normal arrival time is at about 4 p.m. on any day of the week and we fly ATA.

I forgot to mention...when we get to the terminal exit, usually we get asked where we are going to (perhaps by timeshare people, I don't know.) We
tell them we are going to Los Barriles and are left to go on our way.

OK - if you are in the first few people off the plane, 20 minutes is realistic...otherwise, not.
Ditto on leaving the terminal - just keep moving, don't stop and talk - I tell them I'm going to La Paz and the sales pitch evaporates into thin air.vjfamily - 11-3-2013 at 02:32 PM
Like many things in life preplanning is a good thing.
Check the airlines to make sure the flight has left on time and thus is likely to arrive on time.
Make sure your daughter's cell phone can be used Internationally.
Make sure your cellphone can be used Internationally. (Emergancies do happen)
The parking lot is a good walk from the arrival terminal. The SJD arrival area is set up for shuttles, buses and vans. No curb side private cars
allowed. Never, nunca, never.
It works fine to meet guests and walk with them back to the parking lot.
If there is lots of luggage or small children you need to use Plan B. Tell your daughter to watch for a porter (guys in blue shirts with huge luggage
carts) the porter will escort your guests and their luggage thru the Customs area, the Timshare gauntlet and out into the arrival lobby. There are
aggressive Taxi people also, tell her to ignore all those types of people.just stick with the porter.
She will exit though glass double doors and there you will be waiting.
You then take the elevator up to the Departure Lobby, go across the lobby. Exit the building, have the porter off load the luggage. Now you can decide
if your guests stand there while you get the vehicle or they trudge across the road down to the parking lot with you.
Bring cold water, they will really be grateful. Have a great visit.

My favorite way to deal with the timeshare hawks and all is to just head down and stay quiet. They are different depending on your age, sex, etc...
I figure at 33 with my girlfriend we are prime targets.
But head down and if you feel like you have to say something just say no, no, no regardless of the question.
Frustrating dealing with them but its become the norm at all the Mexico airports that I've been...touristy ones.
As for parking and picking them up. Just make sure you know their arrival airline and get there a few minutes early...its simple! One of the few
airports I actually enjoy picking people up at
