Can my SENTRI app get denied?

stella23 - 11-8-2013 at 01:23 PM

Hi all,
I just realized that there is a Q&A so here goes, I am new to this forum (it popped up on google ;) but here is my question:

I live in TJ w/ my undocumented husband. We are in the process of getting him legal but in the mean time, I work full time in San Diego. I heard (we all know how that goes) that SENTRI applicants can get denied if their spouse does not have their papers.

I just want SENTRI to avoid the horrendous morning commute that I face Monday-Friday. Any help or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

The Sad Answer is "Yes"

You can be denied for any number of undisclosed reasons (Homeland Security, ya know).

We have a friend, a doctor with dual citizenship, Mexican and U.S., who has clinics on both sides of the border.

He has lost his Sentri Pass privilege twice that we know of because a relative of his ex-wife (both U.S. citizens) listed the doctor's address on something and then got arrested for something at the border.

DUI and other civil and criminal acts can get you denied.

I have a friend who had a DUI in the 70's and he was denied for the DUI

You can definitely be deinied. My girlfriend was denied for a marijuana possession arrest (later dropped) in 1978.

When I had my interview, I overheard a mexican woman with a resident card being denied because her husband didn't have a resident card.

The Border Patrol (who administers the application), is essentially an enforecement agency. Their purpose is to stop any potential threats.

Much simpler in the long run to get a passport card and use the ready lane.

The answer is yes. My application was denied in June, and they never said why. I plan to appeal with letters to my Senators and Congresswoman at the end of the month.

Right now, I'm waiting for the answer as to why I'm sent to secondary every time I cross the border, so I can include that with my letters and other documents.
