Thanksgiving in Mulege?

BajaBlanca - 11-18-2013 at 01:54 PM

We are thinking of heading over to the S of Cortez for Thanksgiving .....which restaurant do you recommend for a traditional meal?

Gracias.

tripledigitken - 11-18-2013 at 01:58 PM

I would stop in at Scotty's.

Perhaps a local could stop in this week and ask Scotty what he has planned for Tday?

El Candil X2

Mercado Sotres, would be a neat stop to score nuts, and other goodies that are Thanksgiving specialties.

mulegemichael - 11-18-2013 at 03:19 PM

might be russ and lupe will be doing the big meal at their new place; the old senor geckos on the highway....we've eaten for many years now at bart's jungla down on the river....we tried the serinidad once and won't go back.

BajaBlanca - 11-18-2013 at 04:16 PM

Mike, i was thinking that the Jungla might serve a feast.....they did a great job for StPatrick's day a coupls years ago. Tht might be the ticket.

Anyone know if you have to reserve in advance?

BajaBlanca - 11-18-2013 at 04:18 PM

I wd love to do El Candil but to be able to walk home after Jungla wd be very nice. After St Patrick's day, Les literally covered every bit of the road, back and forth LOL

mtnpop - 11-18-2013 at 05:25 PM

We have heard nothing about Scotty doing T dinner...I think he is usually closed on Thanksgiving..
for sure word out is the Jungle, Mely's, Equipales, all are doing a dinner..

nothing yet about Sr. Gecko's or Las Casitas, or the Serenidad but the latter usually always has a thanksgiving dinner...
I will ask
on the net in the morning and see if anyone knows for sure..
or we just deep fry the old buzzard and have company...

would not hurt to call and give them a head count whichever you choose..
good luck...

Scotty has become very undependable. Never know when he is open. Serenidad will certainly be open. You might wish to check out Los Equipales. Nice upstairs view, and good food.

Scotty's hours are posted on the door and are accurate. Open noon to 9pm Tues-Sat. and open at 11am Sunday. Closed Monday. Closed for 3 months in late summer for the past 3 years, re-opens in mid-Oct. Had lunch there about half an hour ago.

tripledigitken - 11-19-2013 at 02:59 PM

No, since we won't be here. Saw fliers for Equipales and Bertha's, also suspect that Russ and Lupe will have a Thanksgiving special at Gecko.

chuckie - 11-19-2013 at 04:28 PM

Meles has a full Turkey spread planned 125 pesos, reservations required..thats where I am going..

tripledigitken - 11-19-2013 at 04:59 PM

Thanks for the info. Sounds like some good options for turkey!

If Equipales is doing turkey, I would be there in a heartbeat.

BajaBlanca - 11-19-2013 at 06:02 PM

Lots of options! Gracias!

Mely's AKA Doney's really one of the better restaurants in town on the main street just past the Corona store...

captkw - 11-20-2013 at 03:57 AM

Palvo in Baja ?? sure its not a "turkey" Buzzard....LOL:lol:

BajaBlanca - 11-21-2013 at 07:02 PM

So we heard that Las Casitas has good food too...can anyone tell me where it is located?

When we go to Mulege, we stay at Cliff's rental. - Clementine's is what he calls his biz.

mtnpop - 11-21-2013 at 07:55 PM

directly across the street from the bombero's.. fire station as you go down the main street... nice place and good food..
Javier is the owner.... inside and outside dining...

have fun....

mulegemichael - 11-21-2013 at 08:51 PM

i think yer best bet is the jungla...call lupe and reserve...you'll be within walking distance...or just walk in and reserve it onsite the day before...not a lot of formalities in mulege..

You would think you lived near Mulege with stupid statements like this one. We go to Scotty's several times a week, he is open when he says he is open and is one of the best in the whole peninsula. During the summer he is closed but a lot of Mulege closes down during the slow season.

My daddy used to say, " If you can't say something nice about someone then keep your mouth shut until something intelligent comes out".

chuckie - 11-22-2013 at 08:39 AM

Scotty keeps a regular schedule during the "season" After looking at all the options for Thanksgving, we are going to the Serenidad...Don says if you are coming for dinner Thursday, dont eat on Wednesday!

Russ - 11-22-2013 at 09:23 AM

Jim, Isn't this the same daddy that said.. "There's no excuse for ignorance" and " The truth hurts" ?
We like the truth. How else are we going to learn?
"Just the facts mam. Just the facts." Was that your daddy too?

Russ, probably so. I would not have gotten upset with this but he reported the same kind of crap for Brenda at Las Casitas. People who are in business down here have a tough enough time without some knucklehead putting out mis-information. A critique I can handle, blatant misrepresentation I do not accept.

Russ - 11-23-2013 at 07:58 AM

I totally understand and agree.
