Rain in Ensenada

Chupacabra - 11-21-2013 at 06:04 PM

The radar as of 5PM looks like it's dumping from Ensenada down through Erendira. Any eyewitness reports?

woody with a view - 11-21-2013 at 06:08 PM

overcast and medium warm in Asuncion!:P

Any surf at all down that way? It's been small for weeks up here.

vacaenbaja - 11-21-2013 at 06:15 PM

Shoot I did not go because all the forcasts show at least windy conditions
along with showers friday and saturday, making for rough seas.
I go to fish.

woody with a view - 11-21-2013 at 06:16 PM

Got a little rain here in Ensenada today and cloudy all day but nothing impressive.

lizard lips - 11-22-2013 at 08:21 AM

Impressive all night! Still raining.

sequoyah - 11-22-2013 at 10:40 AM

Rained all night as far as I can tell, but sunny and beautiful right now.

bajadock - 11-22-2013 at 11:01 AM

It's either gold or Irish b.s. for Colonia Puerto Escondido(aka the cloud crowd) on the hill this morning. Solid rainfall last night woke me up and I liked it.

Guests arriving for the holiday week. Picking up mariscos at my favorite stand for this evening's happy hour. CHEERS

EnsenadaDr - 11-22-2013 at 11:02 AM

What part of La Jolla do you live in Chupacabra? Near La Jolla Village Drive?

The Cloud People are used to it.

Turn up the heat, Doc....:fire::fire:

EnsenadaDr - 11-22-2013 at 11:12 AM

I'm out in Imperial Valley desert right now Dennis. It's been poring all night and early morning, but it has stopped which is a good thing because the roads were flooding big time. It's quite warm and cozy during the day in the desert so I enjoy spending time out here in the winter, but NOT in the summer. Headed back to cold Ensenada for a bit, but not for long!!!

The bay is flat in Asuncion. Like a sheet. Watching the tip of anchored cruising sailboat masts, they appeared like they were set in concrete.

Full medium gray overcast at 11:20AM. Breezes to 15 mph.

Not even a sprinkle so far.

tiotomasbcs - 11-22-2013 at 11:58 AM

Good weather reports and pictures, Amigos. Cloudy on and off down south, Peskys, coming in from the south. Much cooler nites now in mid 60s and calm days after n last weekends windy weather. Surf? Maybe one last south swell but it's been flat here which means great fishing--water temps dropping to upper 70s. Still very nice for a paddle or swim. Enjoy. Tio

An amendment to my post above...

I was corrected by some folks after I had written the above...

Apparently thunderstorm-line rain showers moved through the area last night and areas just outside B.A. got soaked with "downpours" lasting several minutes.

shari - 11-22-2013 at 01:31 PM

there are white caps and squals with several rain cells a bit offshore heading our way but may just slip by us to the north...a good day to head out to the desert for some pitahaya hunting!

DENNIS - 11-22-2013 at 01:40 PM

Clear here now with wind from the south, 15-20 mph.

Shari,
Okay....now I am confused :?: I have not yet had the luxury of sampling this Baja treasure....and in looking for info re: type of cactus they grow on, I came up with this info: Pitahaya (AKA Dragon Fruit) are different from Pitaya.

Pitahaya:

Pitaya:

I have read the articles and I see they are related and the Dragon Fruit is also being commercially grown in Mexico.

WIKI:
A pitaya /pɨˈtaɪ.ə/ or pitahaya /ˌpɪtəˈhaɪ.ə/ is the fruit of several cactus species. "Pitaya" usually refers to fruit of the genus Stenocereus, while "Pitahaya" or "Dragonfruit" always refers to fruit of the genus Hylocereus.

Thanks for any clarification.....

2:20PM B.A. update...

Moderate rain lasting around 7 minutes. Now a drizzle, then a sprinkle. Will tamp down the dust and wash grimy leaves. Get the place all nice and green for folks coming down...

DavidE - 11-22-2013 at 03:31 PM

Yeah I hear that sicarios down here import it to dissolve bodies

Sal de baņo

Mexican Style

Tastes real close to boiled iguana, but a whack of chili perks it right up...

Glad I'm here

durrelllrobert - 11-22-2013 at 05:11 PM

-25 degrees C yesterday in Edmonton Canada where my wife is.

motoged - 11-22-2013 at 05:37 PM

Bob,
Yep...it's winter up here.....:o

Our big football championship game, The Grey Cup, is on Sunday...in an outdoor stadium in Regina w/ forecast of 0'C. but it is -27'C there today....that is "fumbling" temps, for sure.

shari - 11-22-2013 at 05:47 PM

Here is a link to an album of photos when we went pitahaya hunting...and a link to more info on it...we didnt go today as it rained much of the afternoon...dang.

http://s385.photobucket.com/user/blowhole1/library/Pithaya%2...

Not only is the fruit delicioso but the dried up flower stems are lovely to smoke. ranchers smoke them when they run out of cigarettes!

Ged...I will freeze some to make you my world famous Pitahaya Margaritas! Maybe we'll have em at Timo's Grey Cup Party on Sunday eh!

"No stems and seeds that we don't need....Pitaya Red....is bad-ass" ;D

I remember smoking dried washed-up reeds at the lakeshore when I was a kid in Manitoba.....

Thanks for the identifying cactus....I have had a few close encounters with them when riding.....

Enjoy the game....eh!
