Early Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner in Baja

Gypsy Jan - 11-22-2013 at 02:38 PM

Yesterday, hubby picked up #1 daughter in San Diego and they went shopping for the fuel for a feast.

#1 has to be back at work on Monday and her days off are blacked out until after New Year's.

We've done the cooking-the-bird-and-preparing-everything-else-from-scratch thingie for the last few years, but this year she wanted to relax, spend quality time with us and the dogs and simply veg out, so she voted for us picking up a prepared turkey dinner-with-all-the-sides from Mimi's Cafe in San Diego.

We did and I am so glad about the choice. Hubby and #1 showed up at the casa in the afternoon with the full dinner in tow and after a couple hours of reheating the T-bird and sides, we feasted under candlelight and had a great time.

Side note about the prevailing Mexico perception - we invited San Diego relatives to join us at the casa for the feast and got the usual, "Come to Baja - oh, no, we're afraid of that place." response.

Oh well, we will invite them again for Christmas and again for both holidays next year, and so on and so on.

The last few years before Rich retired and the family all far away, we bought the dinners and they were delicious and so easy. Pretty cheap then. Wish I could get one over here
