Those are nice. Thank you for sharing. The peac-ck bass are about the size of the largemouth we catch in California. I love it when they take poppers on the surface. They get so mad!

Iflyfish - 11-25-2013 at 12:12 AM

Thanks Blanca for posting these in my stead. I hope people enjoy this slice of another Latin American country.
The Peac-ck were not that large and a blast on my 9' 4wt flyrod! They do strike with a vengeance!!

Glad you enjoyed them Skipjack

Thanks for taking us along Ifly and Blanca. Loved the Buddha and Einstein. I really want to check Panama out someday. Like the hat Rick.

Seriously though, that looks like a great specimen. I've only seen pictures of them (and in museums) but that one looks spectacular. Are they all around or was this an unusual find?

I marveled at one in Yosemite this weekend but it was nothing like what you're holding.

I still LOVE the photos and glad you posted them here. Nice --- can't wait to visit

Iflyfish - 11-25-2013 at 11:36 AM

I did not use an outfitter or guide. I simply like to explore. If you U2U me I may be able to hook you up with someone who can "guide" you.

You are all welcome. Sorry I did not do a better job but our laptop is being repaired and my ipad kept running out of juice. I wanted them up yesterday.

They are really nice pics, Rick. Sure gives us an idea of the colors there in Panama. Seems like what Mexicans put on their houses is what Panamanians put in their clothes.

Thanks again, very generous of you to do this. I will send a few pics of Molas which I think people would also enjoy.

Abrazos forte Blanca

Your trip got me interested in butterflies once again, Ric.

Check out this beauty from Panama:

Iflyfish - 11-25-2013 at 01:04 PM

Amazing!!! The flora and fauna of Panama is truly mind blowing. I met a retired Pediatrician/entomologist who worked at the Smithsonian Center in Bocas del Toro on the Caribbean side who collected so many specimen of unidentified insects in the 1970s that he is just now categorizing much of his collection. He personally has 5 named after him. He told me that when they went out in the 1970s to gather specimens that they had no time to categorize them, there were just far too many to take the time to catalog. Now in his late 60s he is doing just that and he says he has years of collected specimens yet to identify and name.
I loved Bocas del Toro and would highly recommend it to any one visiting Panama.
