I always enjoy it up there since the first time in 1972... it has been a dozen years since the last time, however... only once did not get a view due
to being in a cloud (1984)...
After watching the Baja 500 near Mike's Sky Rancho in 1978, my friend and I went up and he took a photo of me at the spot where they built the big
observatory later...

It's at the end of the observatory road, at 9,280 feet. You look down on Diablo Dry Lake and to the Colorado River Delta and on to Arizona. It's the
highest place in Baja you can drive to... and Diablo Mountain (in the background) is the highest point on the peninsula, 10,154 feet.
