Drone Copter visits Asuncion

Rene Bruce & his 4 perros showed up here with his cool photography contraption...a drone helicopter with a Go Pro attached to it for taking pictures from the air.

It seems lots of people on the peninsula have run into Rene...he was last seen at Coco's Corners! Sounds like he didnt find any models for taking photos on the SUP's in Mulege although he showed me some amazing pictures of Bahia Conception and the baja mil race. I look forward to seeing the pics of our area.

Here he is flying his invention..he landed it on his car hood. Anyone else chat with him lately?

A friend of mine made one early this year and it got me hooked started watching you tube vids....almost bought one for my b-day...But,, Then I saw the vid that viral with the little kid's unit...and then I saw the vid of the one on a ballon that went out of the atmosphere and you could see the curve of earth...Awesome....Whats next ?? the moon maybe ?? :cool:

They have those drones available everywhere on the WWW. BUt it seems the best one I have seen was on Hammeker Shlemmer and Sky mall.

Have a friend in colorado that has one , he uses it to scout 4wd trails to see if they are passable, not much fun to have to back off a mountain for 2 on 3 mile ,cause you can't turn around or continue .

My buddy was down kite surfing one day and a guy with one of these asked if he could take some video of him.

What a cool experience. My friend got a 10 minute video of himself off the coast of Dana Point, hauling butt, riding waves, all from above.

Saw a News report the other day, FedX and others are
looking at drone delievery of packages 5 lbs and under,
LA area, can't imagine how it would be done

I just received some images of our place La Bufadora Inn from Rene...they are pretty cool and have a nifty prospective.

you can see our dog checking out the big sea lion resting up on the beach and the entrance to the lobster cave...cool stuff eh!

you are right Woody about baja will never be the same. I was thinking how cool the drone footage would be hovering above a whale watching boat that has several friendly whales with it...in fact I have been doing alot of thinking about photography and the insane amount of gear that is used these days.

It used to be annoying with all the clicks, beeps & whirs of cameras when we were communing with whales at the lagoon...video footage demonstrates just how much photography noise pollution there is. I can just imagine the obnoxious noise of a drone in a nice whale video.

Now with the Go Pro explosion, there are usually people in the panga with long sticks they use to get a better shot either from above, underwater or sticking it out. I found that several of my best whale still photographs became unusable because of the go pro sticks in the shot. Imagine my dismay trying to photograph the depth of understanding in a whale eye and all you see is a darn stick in front of it!

I was given a go pro for Christmas and everyone is saying...oh you gotta get a stick which indeed would take great overhead and underwater shots but they sure are a pain in the butt when they get in peoples way and in their photographs...plus whales can startle when the sticks are thrust into the water beside them. Last season we had a man with one on a boat and a whale we knew to be very affectionate would come up to the boat and every time the man stuck the stick in the water, she would avert her visit and veer off...it was very obvious to the other passengers and we were all put off by the guy when he would not stop sticking that damn pole in the water...even when the boat captain told him to stop.

So amigos...please be sensitive and conscious about your photography implements especially on a panga with other people...or near nude beaches...hahaha.
