Baja Gas Gap

Wilbur4s - 12-5-2013 at 11:11 AM

How reliable is the Gas Guy that sells gas out of his truck in Cataviña?

Also, I understand that there is a Gas Guy at the junction of highway 1 and the road that leads off to Bahía de los Ángeles. How reliable is that possibility_
Thanks, Will

No, I wasn't clear in my question. How reliable is that the Gas Guy will be there selling gas at any given time during the day?
Thanks, Will

It's Mexico...who knows

Fill up in El Rosario, or you can drive into BOLA, there are 2 Pemex stations there.

If you fill up in El Rosario "most" vehicles can make the Pemex in Jesus Maria

That's some gringo's way of abbreviating BAY OF LOS ANGELES (L.A. BAY) or correctly Bahía de los Angeles.

Top your tank at Baja Cactus Pemex, El Rosario.
You have a 200 mile run to the next Pemex at Villa Jesus María or a bit more to Guerrero Negro. A bit less to L.A. Bay.

The Independent Vendors at Cataviña or the L.A. Bay junction have always been there during my trips... They do add $1.50 or so to the Pemex price per gallon to stay in business. Cataviña is 76 miles from El Rosario... and about 60 more miles to the L.A. Bay junction.

There are at least two with a third often across from the Mission Catavina hotel. One just north of the Mission Catavina hotel has a sign by the road east side so if he is not there drive back to his house and get him. They usually stay at their sites until after dark and setup around 7am or so. In October 5 gallons was $25 US.

Good info... since the cost of Pemex I read is about $3.50/ gal now, the $1.50 add on I estimated they charge is spot on per your report. Thanks!
