my friend and I will be driving down the week of Christmas
and thinking to stop and go on a whale watch in GN if it is happening? if we do we would stay in town and I am wondering
if anyone can recommend a nice, quiet, safe and reasonably priced place there? I do not much fancy GN and always try to stay elsewhere but it would be
the best place if we do go out on a whale tour
thanks!for any ideas

There are whales arriving early this year so that is good news for the holiday whale watchers. Probably be best to go to the mouth of the lagoon this
early...with Mario's or Malarrimo.
Try Caracoles Hotel or Cowboy both at the entrance to town...Cowboy has some construction going on and it's not real quiet but no hotels really
are...so maybe Caracoles would be your best bet...good luck and maybe you will get to see a baby whale being born! Let us know how your trip was.

GN Motels? There is huge variety and list of features. Everybody has their own favorites. You might try a 'search' for likes and dislikes on
Nomads...or Google.
Halfway Inn (near the army depot....renamed several times...first was old Presidente?)
Malarrimos
Caracoles
Cowboy
Don Gus
Dunas
Don Vincente
I like Malarrimos ... food is okay, bar is okay, secure parking is okay, ...absolutely love the nostalgia.
I may have forgotten a few other old-timers or ones that have fallen down. I recall one rustic place on the main drag where a killed rat would get
you a refund, but hesitate to list it here.
Don't forget to add an hour to your clock after you cross into Baja Sur, since it is Mountain Time Zone.
Good luck with the whales!
