safe parking in San Diego area for our car

1Bajalover - 12-21-2013 at 10:40 AM

when we are in Baja as we are renting another
car and leaving ours somewhere in that area -
we would be gone for 11 days only - if anyone
has any recommendations of places they have
used to park that were safe, etc
thanks you

We have friends that have left their car at the SD airport long term parking without a problem. Just take the shuttle bus to the terminal and catch the car rental bus...........

Or check if the car rental agency will park it for you

Public storage in Chula Vista and around San Diego as well, has storage units for cars and they also have outside parking. First month of storage with the $1 special and the admin fee is only about $30. That's a lot cheaper and IMO more secure than leaving it at the airport.

Border Station - San Ysidro, CA

Border Station in San Ysidro is clean and secure. You have to pay ~$10/day (to get your car out of the lot). It is within walking distance of the border, although, you can pay a bicycle taxi $5 per person to pedal you to the border, or better - ride the Mexicoach into Mexico.

I leave my Jeep Rubicon (and Honda Pilot) parked there and have never had a problem.

Who are you renting from? Hertz has a $299/week special for a Ford Fiesta right now and you can pick it up at
Nice and Easy Auto Body HLE 2350 Main Street Chula Vista CA 619-474-1057 then head back towards the I-805 and drop your other car off at Savon storage at 3712 Main St, Chula Vista, CA (619) 425-2040
as suggested above

Hotels sometimes have a policy of stay and park. In the off seasons one can call the hotel and ask if you spend the night can you park for a week or so.
Hotels in San Diego have these policies for the cruise ship crowd. A few phone calls for almost (one nights stay) free parking.
