Hola to all, does anyone in all of Baja, has or has used the service of DISH television?

...until they find out you are living in Mexico and cut you off (happened to me twice even though I changed my US billing address). DirecTV not a

Dish is avaliable in Ensenada Through Telnor I dont know anything about the Programing that is avaliable through them I would assume it is limited, We

alacran, for some additional research after reading BajaNomads, you'll find tons of info about satellite tv use in Mexico on RV.Net forum...search
through the appropriate column named Technical Corner and/or RVing in Mexico and South America. You'll find volumes of experience and solutions to
most everything tv-wise.

It amazes me how quickly some people confess their sins, ie, " Live in Mexico", or, "I have a new computer I am bringing to Mexico", etc, etc.
I have had DISH service 6 months of the year in Baja for, I don't remember how many years, I guess since Direct TV spot beamed Baja out of their
footprint.
I just take my DISH receiver with me when I move from one house to another and say NOTHING to DISH about my moving around. One thing I do change is
from west coast networks, when in the USA, to east coast networks when I am in Baja. I make this change via Live Chat. I do have a real address on
the west coast which is also my billing address. My original address for setting up my DISH account was a phony address on the east coast. As far as
DISH knows (or needs to know) is that I spend time on both coasts just not at the same time.

Yes, I've had DirecTV for as long as they've been in business. Watching on one of my RV receivers right now on the Rogue River.
In Baja, I originally used a huge 20ft C-Band dish to pick up whatever 'birds' I could...which were considerable. Installed that in 1973, if I
recall.
Then went to a smaller dish with DirecTV about 1986 or so.
For the last decade of so, I had to go to a larger dishes, like many others, to pick out the weakened signal from the satellite spot affect. Finally,
gave up on the whole thing after about 40 years of watching tv...and now only use a local Sky subscription.
I did prefer DirecTV over Sky or Dish, though...because I also had RVs included in the subscription. Like you, I just took the various receivers with
me over the years and never let them know. As long as they got their money, I expect they were happy.
On the smaller satellite RV dishes...usually 18"...I can pick up DirectTV only as far south as Catavina. Fades out after that.
6 footers were okay at Coyote Bay.

Pompano, good to know. I have had a 6 ft dish but added a 4 ft dish last year when I went to High Def. I now get sat 119 on the 4 ft and sat 129 on
the 6 ft.
I don't know anybody down this far that is getting Direct TV but would be interested to know if they are. Many more Shaw TV systems showing up down
here, and, of course, I have that, too. The good thing about Shaw is that I can receive programming on a "regular" size sat dish. One friend in La
Ribera is getting a beautiful HD picture on a only slightly bigger sat dish than mine.

Isn't that the truth? Not nearly as complicated or involved as things were ... back in the day. Of course, it helps if you are NOT addicted to TV!
But, back then I was bound and determined to watch "I LOVE LUCY" and such..and so had this monster hauled down and installed.

I have heard that if you go to the successful restaurant/sports bar in your town and quietly ask them for help (and if you are a good customer),
someone will help you set up your TV satellite reception.

Thanks Roger and the rest of Nomads, I also know Mulege since 1972, and live there permanently for the last 10 years.
I have SKY, for the last 4 years, what I don¨t like about (SKY) is that it started showing movies, that you could switch from Spanish to English if
you wanted, (although Spanish is my 2nd. language) somethings like the NFL, and some flicks I like to see in it¨s original form, besides SKY movies
are repeats over and over.
That is why I asked about info. On DISH.
