We will be making a road trip to Loreto/San Carlos in March.
I've always enjoyed bringing items down to Baja on my camping trips. I've usually brought clothes or items like that.
This time we are thinking of bringing School Supplies down to help out a school in the towns we'll be spending time in. Just doing a little to give
back.
We'll be in Loreto and then over to San Carlos to do some whale watching.
Is there anybody on here that has contacts with schools in either Loreto or San Carlos?
We plan to bring some of the basics down (pens, notebooks, glue, paper, etc..), no high dollar items (ie computers, etc..). What are some of their
needs?
If school supplies are not needed in March, what are other items the kids are in need of?

I have brought down bunches of school supplies and books (in Spanish, of course) over the years and the one lesson I finally learned long ago is if
you want to make sure the school supplies get to those who need them, then give it directly to the kids.
Too many times the boxes of books and supplies that I so carefully selected and transported to a school were not anywheres to be found when I returned
for a visit a few months later. There are some really tiny schools in remote areas that are a good choice for supplies but you need to have some way
to be sure that the kids get the things, not a teacher who is leaving or someone else in the food chain. You paying for a book case for the books
you are giving? Make sure that the money GOES to getting a bookcase, not some one's pocket.
Been there, done that.....
