Mileage from El Rosario to Jesus Maria

DaliDali - 12-29-2013 at 09:31 AM

Can someone please tell me the over the road mileage on Mex 1 from El Rosario (south of San Q) to Villa Jesus Maria (north of G. Negro) :?:

I did find one online mileage calculator but it gives me up to a 40 mile difference.....from 161 to 201.

for me it's 5 hours to el rosario. 3.5 to drive to JM seems too little.

Or 200 miles.....thank you!!

200 miles is close... it is the gap distance without any Pemex stations. However, gasoline is sold at Cataviña, the L.A. Bay Jcn. and perhaps more spots, out of cans for an additional cost over Pemex.

If you are not towing then the best avg. speed on Mex. 1 is about 50 MPH, so figure 4 hours to go 200 miles. There are military checkpoints, truck accidents, construction detours, and animals on the road that keep the overal average speed less than in the USA.

We find this to be a pretty good chart ---

Baja Mileage Chart

Used a lot of blue ink to print.

Villa Jesus Maria isn't on that chart... but if you know it is 20 miles north of the Eagle Monument (where the next Pemex is, 4 miles from downtown Guerrero Negro)... you can get an idea.

267 miles from El Rosario Pemex to Vizcaino Pemex

I have traveled Mex 1 a bazillion times, yet never did check the mileage between points, other than from my departure point to where I was headed.

Does the LA bay or the Catavina location, have premium gas?
All I ever do is take a whiz behind the old buildings at LA bay....then hit the road.

I ride a heavy road motorcycle with a 5 gallon tank and gets <45> miles a gallon and it is not fond of regular gas. I suppose I could carry a small jug of octane booster for the regular gas.

200 miles distance would be pushing it and I don't want to strap on a small gas jug as backup.

Here's my method when I ride my road bike that likes premium gas. I fill at El Rosario then at Catavina I buy one gallon of regular which means I'm mixing 1 gallon of regular with about 3 gallons of remaining premium. That is enough to easily get me to Jesus Maria.

Bingo.....you're on to something here.
Another gallon will get me to Villa Jesus Maria and real premium no problem. (And maybe tamales if their still open)
Thank you...

Cataviña sold Premium and Diesel, along with regular Magna last time I bought there... but that may have been in 2011?
