Northbound Foot Traffic Crossing Tijuana tomorrow

DavidE - 12-29-2013 at 02:02 PM

Oh joy. I have kidney stones and a general kidney, bladder, uretha (Isn't that the name of a soul singer?) infection.

Gee I wonder why I've had a world-class backache the last couple of years.

I don't trust myself to drive from Asuncion. Tomorrow I am taking the Kung Foo Special to the centro de camiones in Tijuana. From there I have to figure out a way to cross the border, get to Ave H in Chula Vista to the Scripps hospital.

The bad news is I am sicker than a dog.

The good news is, the "herniated disc" for the first time in years does not hurt. Now the "discomfort" has localized in my portside kidney.

More good news. My ciudadano credencial allows me to get a 50% discount on the bus fare.

Bad news. I have to endure 14 hours twice of DVD brutal kung foo karate kidney chops.

I'll check back in the morning, and read the forum to see of someone has a magic solution. I can't walk far, although who knows how far I can crawl.

Yeah I gotta agree, kidney stones hurt. But I'm a tough bostid. I drove 1,500 miles with an arm snapped in two a few years ago.

I hate freakin' getting old. A real PITA.

Take the bus to TJ Central Camionera, then a taxi económico to the OTAY crossing, not the San Ysidro crossing. (If you have SENTRI, it doesn't matter which crossing you use.) You'll die in the regular line at SY, even as a pedestrian, even on a Monday night.

Grab a cab as soon as you cross.

If you're feeling a little better, you can hop the trolley to H St. from the SY border, but just... spend the money on the cab and feel better. Alternatively, you can be dropped off at the old Ferrocarril taxi turnaround for SY where the border hopper vans go. I'm sure with sufficient outlay of cash you could get one of them to carry you up to Scripps.

Feel better, man.

Sharp Transportation

Since you are going to Sharp, you might want to call their International Patient Services Assistance Office at Sharp

They may be able to assist you with transportation to the hospital. Ask for Minerva or Jacque:

If you are visibly sick and shaky, then walk to front of line, people let the sick cut line if it is apparent they are not faking.
