Pastrami

bajalou - 11-28-2004 at 10:26 AM

I have to go to the old country next Tue for a appt. and am thinking of going in thru Tijuana instead of my usual Mexicali. Mainly so I can top of the old F250 with Mex diesel before in enter the US. If I go that way, I'd really like to taste the "worlds best pastrami" as I've heard it described.

Directions please.

Thanks

Get off the cuota at the Cantamar exit, hang a right on the frontage, go about a mile or so North and watch on your left for a small strip mall, just past a resort.

It's the Nuevo York Deli in the Grand Baja Resort complex (out front by the highway). This is between the entrance into the Puerto Nuevo restaurants and the Hotel Puerto Nuevo (New Port).

----------
Take Interstate 5 or 805 South through San Diego to the San Ysidro border crossing into Mexico.... After crossing through the border checkpoint, follow the signs (large green with white letters) which say "Rosarito-Ensenada Cuota" (Toll-Road). Tolls are minimal and payable in either pesos or US currency. After the second toll booth, which is at the south end of Rosarito Beach, begin watching for the kilometer markers at the side of the highway. At 49km, is the Puerto Nuevo Exit, get off the toll road and turn left at the off ramp, and travel half a mile. The Resort is on the right side, with the ocean to the left. It is a large Mediterranean style complex with an archway over the driveway.
