El Rosario to Punta San Antonio

Can anyone tell me the road conditions from El Rosario to Punta San Antonio? From the almanac it looks like there is a good grated road but from what I have read in the past that this road is not in good condition. I got this information from the Baja Surf guide book which is a few decades old though. Thanks in advance :yes:

Haven,t been up that way yet this year, but with the new harbor the road is usually pretty good. All the fishermen that work out of there go to Rosario every night.

I was there in September '13. There is a large fish camp and small military garrison there and they recently built a small jetty. The graded road from near El Rosario that branches off from the Punta Baja road is kept in very good condition. I was there after a rain and they immediately regraded the bad parts.

This road is one of the worst "grated" roads I have driven in Baja. There are sections that are completely washed out and alternate routs have been created. Drive this road slow because it is used often by locals who take the road very fast. Overall not a road I suggest for any Baja beginner.

P.S. At Punta Baja a new jetty was created. Looks like it killed the inside race track wave that used to break there. Lets see how long that breakwater will last :o

How do locals drive it so fast if it is one of the worst "grated" (graded?) roads.
Washboard (corrugated) surface is often smoother to drive fast... provided you have the suspension and quality vehicle for it. Locals will drop the tire air pressure to ride smoother over them.

I hope any road report (good or bad) doesn't keep a Baja Nomad from reaching his destination. Bad roads bring good people, afterall!
