Villa Bahia

Anyone have any recent experience with Villa Bahia in BOLA? I'm curious given what I've seen on some of the travel sites.

And I hate to be negative...I really do...but the first night we stayed at Villa Bahia and good god, what a dump. I don't want another Nomad to go there and find what I did...and the deciding factor to leave was giant c-ckroaches on the kitchen counter in the morning... went back to the tried and true at Costa del Sol and Victoria was great as usual...why we ever strayed I'll never know. I can see where Villa was a cool spot at one point in its life but that point is NOT now.

Stayed there twice in the last 2 years. It's definitely not luxurious. I wouldn't stay there in the summer. My two visits recently I found basic accommodations and incredibly beautiful views. Nothing better than rinsing off the dust in the sea, right out front!!!

Roger (was that the owner's name?) was very nice and gave us a bunch of free shells that he had collected.

his prices are comparable with the high end in town. he's a character. get an upstairs room and don't expect much, otherwise ......

that said, it's our favorite place to stay. we aren't looking for the hilton!

It's a little ruff on the edges.....not the Holiday Inn.

This is a place where one would go if you are into fishing, kayaking, fires on the beach....perhaps catching up on your reading.

They offer free kayaks. Offer a cook to come to your kitchen. Have a professional fishing guild if needed. A library. Oh....and they have the best smiles.

Yes...we go there and love it. It's away from town...yet close enough.

A few months ago there was some negatives about "dog poop" being all over the place. The owner was out of town and well....hired help sometimes just dont get the job done. Make sure you are there while Roger is there.................

I stayed there once and wouldn't again unless I brought my own food. The rooms are fine (especially upstairs). The only problem I had was the cleanliness of the kitchen; it was filthy! I got sick as a dog there. Roger seems like a real nice guy, however.

I know there are people that stick up for the place and get all bent out of shape if you say something negative about Villa Bahia. I, for one, appreciate honest reviews.

Okay, here is our honest review....we went down to stay for 3 days...enjoyed it so much we stayed for 5...our room was very clean and had maid service...all rooms had small kitchens, you are supposed to bring your own food so you can prepare it any way you like.....This is a funky place..if you want room service and a mint on your pillow this is not for you....we will go back...If we needed anything Roger was quick to provide it......to each his own

Terry, thanks for your review. It seems Villa Bahia is all over the map in regards to reviews. When I was there, I was with a big group so the staff prepared meals. I would stay again; only difference is I would bring all my food next time.

Very basic rooms with ceiling fans, A/C was on at night. We stayed last June with the kids. Great spot, good beach, very close to town, excellent staff. Free use of the kayaks, the kids and I snorkeled after fishing everyday. Roger and the girls are a great host and will help you in anyway possible. Not the Hilton but I'm glad we stayed there. Much better then staying in town in my opinion.
