I remember reading in Four Wheeler Magazine with some degree of envy how this could ever happen, and it has continued for these many years....

What kind of camper are you currently using?
I noticed several expedition vehicles along hwy 1 and in San Ignacio and Scammons Lagoon this past week that are similar to what you are considering.
I'd suggest getting out and talking to people driving something that interests you if you aren't already doing that. I met one couple that had just
bought a pop-up camper similar to one I've been looking for. Discussing the pros and cons with them was very helpful.
Also you could attend the Overland Expo in Flagstaff in May. More information is at Expedition Portal website. I considered attending last year but
couldn't make it, may go this time. It looks like a good place to learn more about the vehicles and the lifestyle you are considering.

Last weekend there was a couple in oceanside harbor,in a new sprinter sports mobile, very nice diesel 4x4 pop top van . just google sportsmobile

Make sure to factor in the availability of ULSD and the requirements of your targeted vehicle. More manufacturers are adding diesel options, yet
availability of ULSD in Latin America is not yet universal.
You might want to get in touch with Nomad desertbull. He can convert a used truck into a go-anywhere machine. Just add a used Alaskan camper and
you're ready to tackle it all (and stay a while once you get there).

Lots of options for Jeeps, Toyotas etc. Rooftop tents are popular, and a company called Ursa Minor in San Diego has some interesting popup ideas for
Jeeps.
