Emergency medical transportation/relocation

FYI. For anywhere in the world, not just Baja.
Global Rescue medical and security memberships enable our members to control their fate in an uncertain world. By providing world class medical and security response, advice and evacuation, help is only a phone call away.

Because healthcare in much of the world is either poor or nonexistent, Global Rescue provides the medical and security expertise combined with an ability to deploy our own professionals to the exact location of your emergency. We empower our members to decide where and when they want to be transported, giving them a higher likelihood of a positive outcome. When the emergency is far from civilization, Global Rescue can send field rescue teams to where our members need us most. When a natural disaster strikes or political turmoil escalates to civil unrest, members who have upgraded to Global Rescue's security membership can be immediately transported home safely.

Divers Alert Network.$35.00 membership and $40.00 for insurance that will get you to the REQUIRED treatment the best way possible. Doesn't have to be a diving accident, and also includes cremation, boxing and shipping of my carcass if that should be necessary. Anywhere 50 miles or farther from my home. My mid range plan includes a death or dismemberment sum of $15,000. The $75. is the annual fee. By 'required' I mean that they won't automatically send you to the USA. This is a world wide service. I thought it too reasonable to pass-up.

edit to add that I didn't compare with the service you cite, and DAN does NOT include search and rescue.

Other Nomads have recommended this service. Nice to have options. Thanks for posting.

vgabndo, I haven't checked DAN handbook for some time, so I might be wrong. Last time I read it, I got impression that for non-diving accidents they provide evac services only. Yes, they had some health insurance option but with very low coverage and with a lifetime limit. My apologies, don't remember the details.

Yes, they won't sent you automatically to USA, and I don't think that any evac plan will. Cheaper plans will send you to the nearest capable hospital. More expensive plans will offer you a choice where to go, but your condition or beds availability might narrow your choice down.
