Hi,
Does anyone know in what island in the sea of Cortez I am most likely to see the blue-footed boobies and the frigate birds?
any other interesting birds?

Out of Bahia de Los Angeles, there are a number of islands that contain both frigates and boobies (brown and blue footed). The south end of Isla
Coronado (or Smith Island) is called Frigate point for its dense aggregation of these birds.
Also, for the avid adventurer, you could hire a panga to take you down south past Bahia de Las Animas to Isla Raza. This island serves as the nesting
site for many types of birds throughout the year, most notably the least tern.
You will need to check on permits and protocols as the island is under a myriad of protection, but I know it is a destination for research and others
looking to share in the experience.

Within the Bay of Conception (Bahia de Concepcion) you will find many islands within another bay, Coyote Bay. All of these are bird nesting &
resting islands. There are many different marine birds present, with a profusion of frigates. It's not as congested with birds as Back in the Day,
but is still probably your best bet for EASILY finding lots of subjects.
All of these islands are easily reached by motorboat or kayak and make ideal birders destinations. For a few years, the Audubon Society had leased a
ship carrying birders to some of these islands...especially one large one which is quite 'white' due to the many nesting birds.
You should have a fun time seeking the bird of your choice. I took the following photos within 2 miles of my home in Coyote Bay.
Frigates
Osprey
Oyster catcher
Lots of shorebirds
Let's not forget the landlubbers...
Of course, the ever present pelican.

Boobies have to take their islands where they find them.....
Mag Bay and its connecting esteros is also a good venue for frigates, boobies and other sea birds. This time of year is particularly good since you
get to thread your way through the gray whales. In the late afternoon the mangroves on the barrier islands are full of roosting frigates.

The small islands in the San Jose channel have a lot of sea birds and rookeries.

So, from what you're writing, I understand that if we are going to stay in Loreto and in Bahia de Concepcion, in each for 1-2 days, it should be esay,
to take a panga for a day to islands such as Coronado?
I am not sure we will reach La Paz, unless it has something which is very different than the above-mentioned places.

You are correct, Zach, you can rent pangas and kayaks locally in either Mulege (Bahia de Concepcion) or Loreto....not a problem.
