If Carlos Slim lived in America, he wouldnt be nearly as rich, because he would have REAL competition.
Anyone living in Mexico can appreciate how poor Telmex service can be, especially internet. We RARELY get the advertised data rate over here and
outages are numerous. You actually have to pay moonlighting Telmex employees to hook you up to their telco lines or you wait for

business. Unhealthy competition is where there isn't enough competition to suppress prices and encourage efficiency...what you have is one or a few
entrepreneurs making windfall profits thru uncontested higher prices without having to be efficient.

Carlos would likely be even richer if he was in the US. Then he could charge the obscene rates the US companies do and get bailouts and stuff. I find
the TELMEX service here in Mulege very satisfactory at a bargain rate. Internet and Phone, including 100 free minutes to the US cost me about 30
bucks/mo..same service of poorer quality in the US cost me about 80 bucks.
