Bottled water cost?

Cliffy - 2-3-2014 at 12:51 PM

What's the going rate on bottled water as far south as B of C?
Thanks.

Bob and Susan - 2-3-2014 at 12:57 PM

13 pesos for 5 gallons...that's a buck

Pescador - 2-3-2014 at 01:34 PM

We pay 10 pesos in San Bruno at the new water treatment plant.

Bajaboy - 2-3-2014 at 01:38 PM

10 pesos in Bahia Asuncion. I believe the guys who drive around charge 12 pesos.

Pompano - 2-3-2014 at 01:51 PM

Downtown Mulege Water Store. Cheap at twice the price. If you look a bit feeble, they carry it to your car.

the half price thursdays are gone...

all prices are the same for all days at all stores here

Howard - 2-3-2014 at 02:21 PM

In Loreto it's not 1/2 off Wednesdays but 2 for 1 for 11 pesos. Always bring in an even # of bottles and I guess I look a little feeble as they always put them in my car.

chavycha - 2-3-2014 at 04:09 PM

10 pesos in Bahia Asuncion. The fellow working there spent about 10 minutes cleaning the garrafon, and wouldn't keep the change when I paid with a 20.

12 pesos in Vizcaino next to the Bancomer.

my point being that I'll probably use bottled water to fill my trailer tank and use it for showers and toilet also I'm going to do 3 weeks down south and i use my 40 gallons in 5 days so the water bill won't be too bad this first time in 30 years. Thanks to all!!

Most of the water stores can fill your trailer holding tank with a hose .that's what we do when we travel down south.:yes:

Bob and Susan - 2-3-2014 at 05:34 PM

no need for purified water for the trailer...

town water is clean and chlorinated ( a little)

i'd just use a hose...drink and cook with the purified stuff

MitchMan - 2-3-2014 at 06:51 PM

La Paz: 10 pesos for 5 gallon jug, 8 pesos on Thurs and Sundays.

Cliffy - 2-3-2014 at 07:38 PM

Bob and Susan
Ya think the hose from town will work all the way down from the border? I know how to use chlorine in the tank also. Used to be a pool man so I'm conversant with water and chlorine :-) http://forums.bajanomad.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Just don't have a filter for sediment right now. Maybe I should get one

Cliffy - 2-3-2014 at 07:41 PM

BTW does anyone remember the desalinization plant that was in BOLA 35 years ago?

I pay 8 pesos in La Paz and 7 pesos on Thursday. They also drive around the neighborhgood and deliver to your door for 10 pesos a bottle but then you get stuck with bottles like look like they have been through a war.

Average usage = 8 gal per day; pretty good. How much water do you use for one person to take one shower?

Before I got my cistern installed, I had to really watch water usage. Upon tracking my usage, I was using a surprising amount just to wash dishes for one person. I calculated that I used from 4 o 8 gal for one shower. Overall, with semi careful usage, I was using about 20 gals of water per person per day which reflected about 6 to 9 gals/day for toilet flushing on a 1.28 gal/flush toilet. Only used bottle (garafon) water for cooking and drinking.

Have watched our water usage several times dry camping in the High Sierras Maybe 2 gallons per shower (Navy type shower) Toilet- 1/2 gallon at most.

We can go 5 days easy on 40 gallons. Gray fills a lot faster than black water although I do add 5 gallons to black water tank after every dump just to keep things sliding around in there :-)

I'm off to Wally World tomorrow to look at that filter Didn't think to look there before now.

Yes, I remember it. I think it lasted a year or 2.

I think I need to get a life!

I am so excited, Wednesday finally arrived! It's 2 for 1 at the local water place. Only 11 pesos for 10 gallons! Never mind the gas it takes to get there, a poco propina, taking them out of the car and hauling them to the trailer. It's such a deal, I just can't resist a good deal.

willardguy - 2-5-2014 at 10:03 AM

anybody else always tip the kid more than the water cost?
