"Shrimps" Season Opens Today

DavidE - 3-10-2014 at 02:28 PM

Reports from pangueros in Mazatlan pescar for camarones cristales say they fared poorly this last month. I guess I should resign myself to lusting after 200 peso / kilo "shrimps" this year...

I bought some beautiful, large shrimp at Costco over the weekend...$13 a pound. Made some killer guac, tasty carne asada, fresh salsa, and some freshly made flour tortillas....nothing like some surf and turf tacos.

a co-worker went to san felipe over the weekend. i'd asked him to get me a kilo of those megalodon shrimps. yeah, those biggies! he came back and said the season was over so no fresh and he didn't want to buy frozen. instead he brought me a 8 kilo white seabass!!!!

Being "shrimpless" for the last year, it would be impolite for me to detail how to "Stuff Them"...

Envious As Hell

Shrimp? Oh yea! Plenty of shrimp down here. Not hard to come by. Had grilled shrimp for dinner last night, very good and they didn't break the bank. Gonna be boiling a few crawfish pretty soon, don't get any better than that. As far as the fish? What-the-heck! Way more than I can catch or cook.;)
