I guess my headline kind of says it all...anyone have any thoughts on approx. water temps along this stretch in mid April? I realize there is no
exact answer but maybe some parameters? We are heading down that way with some kayaks and possibly, maybe, potentially, a beer or two...or
three...or...
I checked some old Mexfish reports but nothing really for April. Thanks!

kids I were in Gonzaga late last March and did plenty of swimming...water temps were probably upper 60s with air temps in the 80s. We'll be heading
down that way again in three weeks. I'll report back.

Normal surface temp that time of year here in BoLA are mid to low 60's with a thermocline down to mid 50's during the spring tides.

Ever wonder were all the cold water goes, even when the S of C is this warm, this early?
Bahia de Los Angeles.
I went to BOLA one year for a late March Spring Break. Water was 55 F almost everywhere I went. Fishing was poor; even the jawfish had chattering
teeth.
Saw 71.9 inshore yesterday, off San Carlos, Sonora.
But it looks like moderate WNW winds the rest of the week and then a strong, high pressure condition at the weekend. Not that conducive to continued
warming for those of us between the 27th and 28th parallel. No southerly flow expected for the next week.
Then the strong spring tides assert themselves the following week. Pray that they dont push a cold upwelling into any areas or our warm winter (and
hopes for an early tuna/dorado season) will have been for naught.

Here's a source for 'some' historic data.

This is fun to watch also.

thanks!! fascinating to see in the one graph how cool it is (relatively) off of Bahia de Los Angeles vs some of the hotter water off of Gonzaga.
Temperature wise it seems like Yellowtail might be towards the surface...but things change.
