awesome video. Thats the main source of water for Baja California. I hope the U.S never shuts the TAP.

Sorry, Villafontana. The Mighty Colorado River rarely makes it to the Gulf of California any more. The USA over allocated the water based on biased estimated when the Damns were built and Mexico has been alternately screaming and begging about the loss of their water for decades. More water is diverted to growing lettuce in the Imperial Valley (desert) of the USA than trickles down to the Mexican farms on what used to be the Colorado River Delta.

Heck the USA wastes more water in evaporation behind Colorado River Dams than gets to the Mexican farms.

So the USA has effectively shut the tap and forced their farm workers to move north for work as the Mexican farms struggle with unreliable, contaminated (by the time it approaches the Mexican Border) water trickling from the USA owned Colorado River.

The Colorado is still flowing but its' several reservoirs are severely depleted now, as the Southwest battles with drought conditions. There seems to be enough water for irrigation for now. The hundred thousand acres of mostly green leafy crops that keep 50,000 workers busy in the Yuma area, looked very good this winter.

Indeed u r right Geo. Unfortunately Baja California has received in recent years a lot of salitrose water from the river, but if it wasnt for that water, only god knows in what shape we would be in right now. As Dave said, indeed the river still flowing, but unfortunately too we depend on the decision of the U.S government for that water source. Sadly neither the Baja California nor the federal government have had the vision to seek out other sorces of water like desalination plants for instance. There is a plan for building one in Ensenada whom i might add doesnt get water from the river and their water lack problem is more severe that in Tijuana where im from, and whom we depend 100% on the river source. There are no such plans for Tijuana or her neighbor cities. Thats my concern for the TAP closing.
