Playing Santa in March (((:

BajaBlanca - 3-19-2014 at 11:50 AM

Well, I had a blast today .... in my English classes, I passed out pencils donated by BAJANOMAD LIKNBAJA to the 8th graders who did a great job of writing while I was gone to Los Barriles:

I gave out erasers, sharpeners and rulers to the 9th graders, who didn't do so great a job while I was gone but hey....this age is a hard one.

Then we started a project on Vincent Van Gogh and we used the crayons which were also donated to reproduce ROOM IN ARLES impressionist painting he did.

I taught the 7th graders too but they will get their goodies manana.

From the middle school I dropped by the elementary school to drop off a microscope and they were thrilled about this....science stuff went over well:

and from there I went to the kindergarden and dropped off 2 coloring books to the office assistant who was watering down the sand (so typical here) in front of the school:

I love playing Santa ... what great fun to spread joy. Thanks Brenda and gang for helping to make the world a better place.

Every year starting about the end of July/first of August, Wal-Mart has 99cent and $1 deals on various school supplies. I usually drop about $40 to buy stuff for the kids at the local school.........one of my favorites are the flash cards in English for colors and objects....sometimes can find these at Michael's Craft Stores

walmart really does have incredible deals!

Glad to see people donating...As somone mentioned starting in August, Staples, Target, Walmart, Office Depot all have special deals. Just grab a bunch of stuff and bring it with you!
Blanca you're doing awesome teaching all those kids, not just education, but life lessons, and that people from far away care about them!

So today was the day for the 7th graders to get pencils and I forgot my ipad to take pics BUT this is how sad the story sometimes is.

I had them do an exercise in English and as they finished, they would get a pencil. One kid did not have a pencil or a pen to do the exercise. He really didn't. Broke my heart and obviously I gave him a brand new one. Those that have, have a lot. Those that don't have, got nothin.

Blanca= I plan to drive your way when my school is on recess end of March. I'll bring the brownie mix (for post clean-up snacks) and other teaching supplies.

Please U2U me a list of items that would be most helpful. I will definitely bring pencils!

And please add your school schedule- I'd love to come out and say hello to your students (if that's ok)

PS- a lot of my students are struggling too. Not the same as yours, but they have their challenges also...

Please come to class and you can be Santa that day. How very cool of you to want to participate. What level do you teach? Any way we can do a letter exchange student to student? I can come to your school too .....

"Wal-Mart has 99cent and $1 deals on various school supplies"
Watch for the Office Depot, Office Max school deals - 10 CENTS on many items (go on different days for more of the limitied quantities); computer paper, etc. Also the 99 Only stores have coloring books, pencils, pens, erasers, protracters, rulers, pencil cases, etc. all the time for $1. The better deal at WalMart is to wait after school starts and all their cheap stuff is on sale.
