3 22 14 Drove from San Felipe to end of pavement and back.
Rocks on the pavement were easy to avoid. Mostly south end. Went early and on the way back we saw lots of traffic southbound.

Thanks for posting the photos.
I'm curious about the Gate to Alfonsina's. Reference your third photo. There used to be a "back road" over to Alfonsina's which left the main road
just south of the military check point. It wasn't much faster than going around by way of the Pemex, but it cut some distance off. Does that road have
a gate across it too? At really high tides some of the road is under water, so can be problematic, but otherwise it joined the main "entrance" road to
Alfonsina's about where the airstrip of Rancho Grande ended...or thereabouts.

The contractor is still building the two inspection pits at the check point and I think their vehicles were parked on a road that heads in the
direction you mentioned. I am not familiar with your road. No big deal at the gate. We just said were going to Alfonsinias for lunch and the guard
opened the gate. My guess the gate is for night control. Of course one can still drive on the other side of the runway and head north via the beach.

Not per my odometer... closer to 35 from Rancho Grande, and the pavement ends about 2 miles from Rancho Grande... making it 33 dirt miles.David K - 3-24-2014 at 09:57 AM

We were there last week and the guard opened up the gate for us to go to Alfonsinas when we told him that is where we wanted to go. Glorious day
