Hotel Review San Quintin to San Carlos

TLBaja79 - 3-23-2014 at 07:56 PM

Here we go for a review of the handful of hotels we stayed at during our March trip

San Quintin - Jardines - Stayed on the way down and on the way back up. Its awesome, don't really need to say more I think everybody knows its good

Punta Chivato - Hotelito, Hacienda & Posada all CLOSED. The few people we talked to just sort of shrugged and said they don't know whats goin on. Seems a bit weird to us...

Mulege - Hotel Serinidad - A safe place to stay, no frills in the rooms, got a room that had a sewage gas smell. Not sure if the whole hotel is like that, we were just there for the night so dealt with it and moved on.
Good food and drinks at the restaurant. Though service was slow and prob need more people working the restaurant/bar.
I like the hotel cause its safe and clean enough, but a major renovation would be needed to make it a great or nice hotel these days.

San Ignacio - Baja Oasis - Our first couple choices were booked up. So got a room here and were pleasantly surprised. It was not too pricey ($400 or so) and clean. Big room, bed & shower. It is right on the road so got woken up a couple times in the night by trucks, but we expected that when we got a hotel on the highway. Somewhat secure parking, parked right in front of our room. If the other places are booked I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future.

Loreto - Posada del Cortes - We really like this hotel, clean and nice. In our opinion its the best location in town. We have been back a couple times and will stay there again. They don't have secure parking, you just use the fenced in area across the street they also own so could be a deal breaker. But very nice place to stay!

Loreto - Santa Fe - We got into town late and needed a room for the night and the handful of places we knew were good were booked. So got a room here. Negotiated a $65 rate for 2 (They wanted $90). The courtyard area was great with a nice pool and Jacuzzi. Clean standard rooms with kitchenette. Overall it was good.

Puerto San Carlos - Mar Y Arena - Stayed here and it was good. 2nd time at this hotel and both times were a pain and not smooth to check in and get the room. They wouldn't let us stay in the rooms with the view for whatever reason...and of the 2 rooms we got one was finished with fan and TV and the other wasn't. They are a pain but are by far the best hotel in town so oh well, will probably deal with it next time also.

San Quitin - Hotel La Villa De San Quintin

This was a good, modern hotel with a restaurant and hotel adjacent. Would stay there again.

My wife and I just took a quick fishing trip down to San Quintin Baja CA.
We stayed at the Old Mill Hotel which just recently reopened under new ownership. We were very impressed witheverthing about it. The new owner was very cordial and even offered us a beer upon check in. The rrom was completly renovated, immaculate, had very hot water and every switch and plug worked, which is unusual for a lot of places down there. The daily maid service was great as well. Our room was only $42/night and very large (about 15 x 20) and the bathroom, with a 4' x 6' shower was also huge (about 15 x 10). The Molino Viejo (Old Mill) restaurant next door, which is no longer part of the hotel, had great food and drinks at reasonable prices. Other nearby restuarants with good food that we ate at are Jardines Baja and Celito Linda.

Room Tip: Stay in the newly remodeled section (or the new addition for more$)

Hello Jim and Nancy Harer still own the hotel, but recently retired. Javier is the manager and he will take care of the old mill hotel
