I purposely left out the photos of the 1/4" gash that was bleeding pretty badly.
The cut happened while I was sharpening a knife with one of those handle-type knife sharpeners (first time in 30+ years of using it). I was walking
barefoot in the kitchen while sharpening the knife, and stubbed my right toe.
At first I just put a couple of bandaids on it, and used a 1/4 roll of toilet paper to soak up the blood. But 15 minutes later it would not quit
bleeding...so I drove the ten minutes to the hospital, and then spent 3 hours in the emergency hospital room.

Just for the curious...no, it was not painful...it felt just about the same as a regular scrape.monoloco - 3-25-2014 at 05:47 PM
Thanks, monoloco...I saved that tip on my bookmark page.
I am not sure it would have worked on a 3/16 to 1/4" gash, but it could have not been worse than the stuff (could have been medical grade superglue)
the doctors used before they sutured me. It sure stopped the bleeding, RIGHT NOW!motoged - 3-25-2014 at 06:36 PM

Contraindications:
Wound adhesives are generally only used on minor wounds, no more than 5cm and with straight edges. Do not attempt to use glue on the following:
wounds on the face
wounds where the skin flexes or over joints
wounds with uneven or jagged edges
deep wounds
wounds that are bleeding...."
But Duct Tape might have worked.....or staples:

You almost got a "smiley" out of it .... get well .. and remember the warnings on operating machinery BornFisher - 3-25-2014 at 07:45 PM
Bummer but.............. just hope the knife is sharp and your right toe is OK!!!Udo - 3-26-2014 at 07:57 AM
The knife is extremely sharp...i.e. it has to cut a tomato by just gently pushing down on it.
I refuse to work with dull knives.
The toe is OKvgabndo - 3-26-2014 at 08:28 AM
As long as you can still see your finger prints through the scar tissue, you are unlikely to make Anthony Bourdain's "A" list!!!Udo - 3-26-2014 at 09:58 AM
Thanks, vgabndo, I needed that!Marinero - 3-26-2014 at 07:39 PM
