Mulege Valley Dam Project

Nomads,
I am curious as to whether or not there is any progress with the project of the upstream dams and possible diversion projects on the Mulege river valley.

A while ago there were some pics of some excavation in the valley west of Mulege.

In January, Mulege Al took me for a day ride on motos past the racetrack northwest of town and up to the San Jose de Magdalena area. We rode trough some valleys south of Magdalena where the recent rains had stripped some farms of good fields and left a lot of boulders (size of oranges and up to watermelon sizes) covering the valley bottoms.

A pic from an article by DavidK (The Mysterious Magdalena Ruins):

There was some significant road work being done in the area between the highway and the mountains.

As we know, the road from Magdalena into the mountains towards Mision Guadalupe is blocked by a severe washout in a canyon section cutting off that access route to both Mulege and points west towards the Pacific... (San Estanislau, La Ballena).

I am wondering if the dam project is proceeding....and if some of the roadwork south of San Jose Magdalena is going to bypass the washed out road by creating a new route.

Thanks for any updates on these projects.

Folks,
I think DK was trying to be helpful with correcting my originally misnaming the mission name.

Any work and "improvements" updates are appreciated. :saint:
