The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued an alert for all of Latin America’s Pacific coast. Chile’s Emergency Office said a large tsunami wave was expected to hit the island of Juan Fernandez out in the Pacific just before midnight local time.

windgrrl - 4-1-2014 at 08:20 PM

micah202 - 4-1-2014 at 08:30 PM

.....even a 2-3' can cause quite a 'stir' in marina's etc,,,especially if it's high tide

Hawaii on the lookout tonight for something coming from this........ but, maybe not much.

Ride the Wild Surf ?

MrBillM - 4-2-2014 at 09:58 AM

Nah !

It's looking like a minor event.

Which is a GOOD thing. Otherwise, it would possibly put a serious dent into the (mostly CNN) 24/7 Malaysia Flight 370 speculative coverage.

A SIX FOOT Tsunami hit the coast of Chile. Lesee, max speed 600 mph, how many miles is it to Mexico? Tsunami buoys, oh well hell, no one wants to hear about reality, right? They all want to see this mile-high wall of crystal blue water arriving at the shoreline. Can't add mud, octupi, seaweed, and whale --- to screw up that beautiful sapphire movie script hallucination. Yeah, throw in the mad surfer! "Ohhhhh man! I waited all my life for this onnnnnnnneeeeeeeee...."

Dah-veed, did you take your meds amigo? ;D

DavidE - 4-2-2014 at 03:56 PM

The sarcastic side won out. Sorry. Global Warming, cooling, Al Qaeda, Al Gore, Tidal waves, tidal action, nothing is "ordinary" any more. Everything HAS GOT TO BE turbocharged, including the news.

It all makes for rich fodder in the snicker department...

BajaBlanca - 4-2-2014 at 08:10 PM

Ignorance is truly bliss. I had idea about the earthquake, nor the tsunami warning.

I gotta admit, being 375 feet above sea level with a view to the Coronado Islands it sure would be a site to behold, now that you mentioned it....
