Look for an office or sign for INM... in Baja, they are all just inside the border, typically one of the first doors of the first building.

as you cross they will direct you to the left to the immigration vehicle search are. it is a covered space for about 6 vehicles. we parked there and told them we needed FMMs and they pointed us back across the street. it is right there.

note: the people in the migra office seemed like they didn't know what we wanted. almost hesitant to give us forms.it was really wierd. they gave them to us but they seemed like they were doing something they were unsure of. kinda strange.

So, the office is literally to the right side of the crossing "lights and lifts" so, like Woody said, you can take the "Declaracion" lane, but you will be inspected even if you simply ask for INM office. Once you finish the inspection you can park at several parking spots that are at the inspection area.

Or.

If you go to the "Nada Declaracion" lane and get the green light, you can try to find a parking place on the street as you cross the gates. You can cross through the next traffic light or turn rightat the traffic light and have parking options and then walk back to INM.

Just remeber, at this point you are entering Sonora and unlike Baja, it is not a free state and they will try to sell you car permit that is required when entering the mainland and going south to Hermosillo, etc. You don't need one for Baja. The lines, when we were there, were mainly for these car permits and it took a while when we had to pay at the bank.

Overall it is not a big deal. it is just the logistics of parking etc. in Mexico

Thanks, sounds fairly easy to find.

What happened to the Sonora Free Zone (no car permits needed unless going south of Guaymas)?

I have been to El Golfo and Puerto Peņasco without a car permit, and that was many years ago.
