pemex

Is there a semi reliable Pemex station open in Baha Asuncion?
Thanks.

woody with a view - 4-14-2014 at 11:51 AM

no, but there is gas available.

DavidE - 4-14-2014 at 12:16 PM

You might find it handy to remember the word

GASOLINERA

The gasolinera independente in Asuncion dispenses only Magna and the cost is around 25 cents a gallon higher.

The Franquicia seems to be undergoing the nightmare process of a hundred and ten permits and inspections. When asphalt and concrete get laid will be the next mile stone. I don't see as yet any signs of a cajera for an ATM machine.

But they have a bunch of stations right out on Mex 1. If you are heading in the Asuncion, fill up before you start over to the coast.

72 Miles Across The Flat

Is Where Gas and The ATM Is At

Moscaino, Moscaino

You can see the middle of nowhere from there...

Which at this moment, in my area, is 12.59 Pesos per liter.
Also at this moment, the exchange rate is 13.09 to one. You do the math.

Why not?

12.59 P/liter x 3.78 liter/ US gal = 47.59 p/us gal divided by 13.09 P/US$ = $3.63 per US gal.
Actually I just got 12.96 pesos/$ out of the ATM so my fill up cost $3.67 per US gal

Just fyi, in San Diego County the cheapest gas (Costco, ARCO) around my home is now over $4/ gallon... and up to $4.35 at freeway offramp stations.

And that Costco, Arco, USA, Thrifty gas all comes from Tesoro, I just learned recently. =)

What does that mean Jon? More ethanol? Costco pumps now have signs that their's is a "Top Tier" gasoline with all the good agents for your engine's health, etc.

Honestly, I don't think it means much. Tesoro bought out BP in SoCal last year and took over their gas distribution. I don't think anything has changed, really. Just a different name selling gas to the stations. Same gas. No more ethanol than was in there before. Same old same old.

The concrete pads around the pumps and over the underground tanks are all done, and the base rock is being compacted for the paving of the lot. Very slow by any standards. "Real" engineered rebar in the pump slabs though, and lots of it.

Take some photos man! JK.

That's my line of work. I love that stuff. I'm an underground storage tank nerd.:lol:

As long as the Asuncion Pemex station doesn't look like this, things will be OK.

Empty swimming pool syndrome I presume?

vgabndo - 4-15-2014 at 02:35 PM

Jon, it is probably a good thing I didn't assume your interest. I made part of my living documenting construction projects, I might have been carried away. (smiley here)

"Their's?!" David, I'm shocked.

Hmm, but maybe you've invented something useful here: the double possessive (for emphasis). This could be the next linguistic trend...

Maybe... ? It is possessive (signs belonging to) plural (more than one sign)... maybe just "theirs" without the ' before the s? I don't ever claim to know or understand the English language.
Baja place names is another matter, completely!:light:
Thank you!

Bajahowodd - 4-15-2014 at 05:04 PM

The current run up in SoCal gasoline prices are more or less an annual event, that despite whatever BS the fuel companies will talk about, i.e. changeover to summer blend, refinery maintenance, Etc., it's all about a feeding frenzy by commodity traders that play Vegas type games to syphon of money for themselves.

Anyone remember when the vertically integrated gasoline providers, pumped, refined and sold at retail, their own product. Doesn't happen today.

Ateo - 4-15-2014 at 05:41 PM

Nice shots Perry. Looks like a nice, new, clean site.

I like how they have the dedicated Diesel island, with no canopy, making it easy for big trucks to fuel up. Thanks for the photos of the tank pad, vent pipes (2 gas and one diesel), and what looks like Wayne dispensers. Probably has new state of the art double walled fiberglass underground storage tanks (UST) as well. I wonder if they need a UST inspector? They can hire me but I'll have to charge for the extra mileage. =)

boe4fun - 4-15-2014 at 07:55 PM

Hey Perry, How are the big 18 wheelers gonna get into our station?

Ateo - 4-15-2014 at 08:40 PM

Just to add more photographic nonsense, as long as the Asuncion station doesn't look like this, all will be well:
