To completely avoid the dangerous road you could go north on Blvd. 2000 to one of the two connectors over to Tecate, then back toward the coast

Just follow the toll road south, you will be diverted to the free road at LaMision. Continue south on the free road. At El Tigre, there will be a sign
for the wine country. Make a left turn there
Or
Continue on the free road till it meets with the main highway in San Miguel, follow the highway south until you see the "Ruta de Vino" signs for Hwy 3durrelllrobert - 5-9-2014 at 07:28 AM

Well, you could go up the grade from La Mission on the free road and half way across the mesa to the

Don't be ridiculous. That's twice as far—90 miles instead of 45—just to avoid a road that isn't especially dangerous.
Drive south on either the free or the toll road. You will not be able to miss the exit at La Fonda/Alisitos/La Misión. Turn left off the exit and head
inland. Go through La Misión and up over the hill. You'll see a huge sign directing you to turn left for the Valle de Guadalupe. Follow that road and
you will end up first in El Tigre, then in El Porvenir, then in Francisco Zarco where you will meet up with Highway 3 at the Pemex.
Be careful of speed limits in La Misión: I was pulled over twice two weeks ago. Be careful of topes (speed bumps) on the road into the Valle de

Yeah.......it is farther, but my first thought was she wanted to avoid the detour on the Old Road which in spite of your evaluation, has become
dangerous. People are driving like maniacs. One of my neighbors had a head-on just a few days back from some idiot driving on both sides of the

Use the free, new highway right into Guadalupe Valley from El Tigre area!
This is off the free / detour road between La Misión and Ensenada. About 12 miles from the bridge of the riverbed in La Misión valley.
On this map, it is not yet paved, but is on the roads with the mileages along them of 4.7 and 6.4 (by El Perral and to El Porvenir:
