What is the current level of mosquitos in Mulege? I plan on coming thru but would like to avoid these if possible.Mulegena - 5-19-2014 at 09:08 AM
No mosquitos that I'm personally aware or bothered by.
The city doesn't spray until deep into summer after the hard rains have allowed green grass to grow and the accumulation of standing water.
It's May and there are big bee-like flies around.
Additionally, the carizo and palm fires on the river have removed much of the mosquito habitat and have created smoke in the air which may effectively

OFF? Mexican OFF is about as effective as spraying PAM on your skin.

For the record, however, Mulegena is correct in saying that in her opinion, there are no mosquitoes now.
Les and I can be sitting at the same table and he will be swatting right and left while I am in oblivion to his strife until he says..."Let's go now!

I live down on the river in Oasis, and I've been getting a few little ankle bites around dusk, but nothing really worth worrying about. I am out of
town this week, and left the day after the big fire, so don't know if it had any affect on mosquitos. Having moved to Mulege from Alaska, however, let

Ben's 30. Comes in 1 oz spray, 4 oz, and also in wipes form. It contains 30% DEET.
Pure DEET is a horrible thing, I doubt that bugs anywhere in Baja warrant that much poison. Can't say about Mulege, but it's probably no-see-ems, not
"mosquitoes".
Most efficient after-bite remedy and the one that you don't need to buy - because you already have it - is a regular soap, as I've found. Just wet

The mosquitos that I want to avoid are Aedes Aegypti that fly during the heat of the day. I may need to camp at Santapec on the way thru and do not
