I found some interesting notes on Mission Santa Maria I thought I'd share. I will post in several links to break them up a bit.
These are either from my dad, or Bud Bernhard with whom my father was good friends. I was on all of the trips mentioned by my dad ('73, '77, and '82)
and the hike into the Mission in 1973 as a kid of 7 is one of my earliest recollections of a Baja trip I can put to a specific place. This hike was
sponsored by the San Diego Chapter of the Sierra Club. Although I don't recall all the people who went, it is likely that BarryA's Aunt was there, as
she was along on many of the Sierra Club trips.

Great stuff, Taco.
I don't recall my aunt (Becky McSheehy) speaking of any trip into the Mission Santa Maria from Santa Inez or Gonzaga, but I was away at School in the
East, and in Montana & Utah at the time of the trips and may have not been aware. I have all her carefully collected maps, and documentation of
trips, and see no reference to any trip to the Mission Santa Maria, so I don't think she made that trip. She seldom did any actual back-packing, but
sometimes. She did do a multi-day trip with Bud Bernhard, NOMAD "Vince", and others when they conquered Picacho del Diablo way back when.
